Cambridge in 1985 and went on to qualify in Medicine from University College London
(Middlesex Hospital) in 1991. He became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians
(UK) 1994 and was made a Fellow in 2007. He completed a programme of research in
Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Sheffield between 1995 - 1998 and was

Research
My research is clinically orientated and focusses on the diagnostic yield of echocardiography
and cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging in the clinical arena. My recent research has
revealed changes in cardiac function detected on echo and CMR in mild, early renal
dysfunction which may in future be used to target preventative therapy to reduce
cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in patients at high risk. I review on a regular basis for
a number of international journals, including Heart, Human Hypertension, Clinical
Endocrinology, the Journal of Cardiovascular MRI, the British Journal of Radiology and the
European Journal of Echocardiography. I am abstract marker for the British Society of
Cardiology annual general meeting and for the British Society of Echocardography annual
general meeting.
