GEOLOGIAN TUTKIMUSKESKUS APPENDIX B2 5.10.2015 1 (2) Reg No E/336/251/2015 ELEMENTS TO BE DETERMINED FROM GEOCHEMICAL BASELINE SAMPLES AFTER AQUA REGIA EXTRACTION The following requirements are defined for mineral soil and sediment samples used for geochemical baseline studies and geochemical mapping from non-contaminated soils. The samples are taken from minerogenic soils, sediments or from soil dust. The samples may contain small amount of organic material. These samples will be airdried (usually <40oC) and sieved to <2 mm size fraction before hot aqua regia extraction (comparable to SFS-ISO 11466:2007 standard). Table provides the list of elements detection limits (attention, not theoretical detection limits for blank samples but practical detection limits as valid for the soil samples and evaluated from the duplicates!) that should be reached. Minimum list of elements to be determined after aqua regia extraction with detection limits, desired practical detection limits and fields to be filled in. Minimum criteria: at least 90 % of the concentrations of all the listed elements will be determined with detection limit (or better). If the desired DL is defined, additional points will be given for elements determined with the desired practical detection limit.
