“The Stories We Tell: A Two-day Writing Workshop

The Writing Workshop is part one of a two-part event in Mount Mary’s Untold Stories series
that brings awareness, advocacy, and healing for survivors of gender-based violence and human
trafficking.
Fall Writing Workshop: the intensive testimonial writing workshop offers a creative and safe environment for
survivors to develop their own work of poetry, short fiction, or prose. Guided by award-winning author, R.
Clifton Spargo, and Anne Ream, founder of The Voices and Faces Project™, this writing workshop “We are the
Stories We Tell,” is nationally recognized for its excellence.
Spring Showcase: Untold Stories offers a Keynote speaker working in the fight against gender violence at a public
luncheon that includes an art and writing showcase of workshop participant work. Presentation topics vary to
year.

about any of the following that you find matter most to you: 1) your reasons for wishing to write or to speak
publicly on this issue; 2) any personal, professional, or advocacy experience you may have that affects your
“testimonial voice” or, in other words, your voice as a witness to your own experience of gender-based violence;
3) any past experience with writing or public speaking on this or related issues; or 4) any training or education
that has shaped your thinking or actions on this issue. Please note that these are meant as helpful suggestions for
what you may write about.
