YA/YA, Inc., New Orleans, LA - Creative Director
Responsibilities include upholding the mission and artistic excellence of the
organization with the Executive Director. Duties include planning and implementing
programs, serving as an artist mentor to youth artists, creating promotional
graphics, and developing commercial arts ventures. Supervise all general programs,
special projects, and client-based commissions. Role includes management of
creative staff, mentoring interns in the arts, production, and administration.
2000 – 2002
WhyFive Studio, New Orleans, LA – Co-Founder/Designer
Co-founder of WhyFive Studio, a commercial design arts firm established by four
YA/YA alumni, secured contracts to design products, animated web sites, and logos.
1996 – 2002
Mark Mussman Carpentry, New Orleans, LA - Woodworker
Apprenticed with Mark Mussman, a master-craftsmen, for a year and later returned
in 1998 as a woodworker and installer, creating molding, furniture, framing, and
finishing work for New Orleans Uptown shotgun house renovations contracts.

Apache Signs, Houston, TX - Industrial Sign Builder/Installer
Designed and installed outdoor commercial signs and trained for six months in
constructing, plotting, crane and forklift operation, and installation.

Operated four and six-color carousel printing equipment and silk-screened t-shirts

Worked on hundreds of YA/YA commissions, designed for Swatch, United Nations,
and represented YA/YA in Japan, Germany, Italy, Holland, and numerous cities
around the United States while participated as a guild artist member.

Duncan Sculpture Chattanooga, TN September 2009 – Present apprenticed with
metal sculpture artist Isaac Duncan III. Currently training in welding, material
preparation, and sculpture installation.
Stone Wood Metal Houston Spring 1998 apprenticed with a furniture artist
working with stone, wood and metal.
Cultural Arts Center Chicago, Il Summer 1994 worked as senior apprentice artist
in a Fashion Design Tent: Designed and made hats and constructed hand sewn
wearable art with found objects, for Gallery 37.
Fabric Workshop Philadelphia, PA Spring 1994 trained in repeat designed and
silk-screening of fabric.
Commissioned Artworks/Productions/Exhibits:
Under-Standing Water Houston, TX September 2010 commissioned by Diverse
Works Art to create “After Disaster, which is a sculptural installation is composed of a
4ft x 6ft water faucet made of salvaged wood and materials with over 4,000 postcard
photographs pouring from the faucet’s mouth. The photographs are documentation
shots from the home of the artist’s mother being rebuilt, and shots of the
devastation throughout New Orleans after hurricane Katrina.
Guggenheim Museum New York, NY December 2009 commissioned by Works in
Process to produce character sculptures for Guggenheim’s annual Peter and the Wolf
production. Produced two original artworks, mentored youth participants, and comanaged overall project and installation.
Floodwall Project New Orleans, LA January 2006 – April 2009 contracted by
artist Jana Napoli for technical support with project. Support included: Documenting,
photographing, and cataloging 700+ artwork items, design and construction of
prototypes and final artwork, and management of exhibit installations. Installations:
Liberty Bridge-New York, NY January 2007. Louisiana State Museum–Baton Rouge,
LA July 2007. Clifton Cultural Arts Center-Cincinnati, Oh August 2008. Prospect OneNew Orleans, LA October 2008. German Immigration Museum-Bremerhaven,

On Piety New Orleans, LA October 2008 exhibited “On The Street” a two-part
cinéma vérité installation consisting of a life-sized profile of a vehicle projecting a
documented video drive through of the hurricane Katrina Lower Ninth Ward
devastation. The installation also exhibited at the New Orleans Contemporary Art
Center April 2009.
Waiting for Gadot New Orleans, LA November 2007 contracted by Creative Time
and artist Paul Chan to fabricate props for "Waiting for Gadot" production.
Studio Atelier Napoli New Orleans, LA May 2004 designed and built custom
kitchen island and bookcase.
Jazz and Heritage Festival New Orleans, LA March 1999 designed and painted a
25’ square canvas for Francofête celebration.
Design Partners New Orleans, LA May 1995 designed poster for Violence
Prevention Campaign.
Swatch, Ltd. Switzerland 1994-1995 collaborated with other YA/YA artists and
seven foreign artists to redesign the United Nations General Assembly room in
celebration of their 50th year anniversary.
Swatch Watch Company Switzerland 1993-1994 designed faces of two YA/YASwatch watches for Spring 95 collection.
Alessandro Mendini Milano, Italy 1996-1997 commissioned to design and create a
sculptural chair.
National Assembly of State Arts Agencies Washington DC October 1994
designed cover and interior graphics for "Part of the Solution: Creative Alternatives
for Youth” book.

On Piety Exhibit - New Orleans, LA 2008 Co-curator of On Piety, a parallel venue

multidisciplinary installations by New Orleans’ visual and performing artists.
