Faye Marie and Linly Dow Scholarship Fact Sheet Harrison County Community Foundation Type of scholarships A college education scholarship is available for tuition or books at a school of the student’s choice. The high school graduating senior from Logan-Magnolia Community School must be enrolled as a student by the institution of higher education and pursuing a post high school educational program. This shall include trade schools, technical, vocational, or other educational institutions or programs. Number of scholarships Two scholarship awards of approximately $1,500; one to a girl and one to a boy. Who may apply? Only Logan-Magnolia Community High School graduating seniors who are enrolled in a a post high school educational program, including trade schools, technical, vocational, or other educational institutions or programs, and can demonstrate in writing the reason for applying for the Faye Marie and Linly Dow Scholarship and how it will help them achieve their goals. The criteria for Dow Scholars require successful academic careers, extra-curricular activities, along with a demonstrated community service spirit of volunteerism. How do I apply? Complete a Faye Marie and Linly Dow Scholarship application form and submit a copy of your current transcripts to the Harrison County Community Foundation at 302 South 36th Street, Suite 100, Omaha, NE 68131. Applications are available from your Guidance Counselor or online at http://omahafoundation.org. What is the Deadline? Annually, scholarship materials must be submitted to the Harrison County Community Foundation at 302 South 36th Street, Suite 100, Omaha, NE 68131 no later than March 31st What is the purpose of the Dow scholarship? In making scholarship awards, the selection committee will take into consideration the donor’s intent to perpetuate and honor the Dow family, long time residents of Harrison County, and to provide financial assistance to worthy students who explain in their application why they need the scholarship and how it will help them achieve their goals. Who selects the scholarship recipients? A designated scholarship selection committee selected by the Harrison County Community Foundation Advisory Board will select the recipients at an April meeting. How is the scholarship recipient notified? The High School Guidance Counselor office will notify the recipient of their selection and school traditions of public announcements are observed. A packet of materials for the recipient is provided to the High School Guidance Counselor office. The scholarship is paid to the student’s account at the educational intuition the student elected, after successfully completing a first semester. What are my responsibilities as a Dow Scholar? The student must maintain a C or better grade point, or the equivalent. A transcript must be provided to the Harrison County Community Foundation, 302 South 36th Street, Suite 100, Omaha, NE 68131. The scholarship grants shall be paid to the educational institutions. College students should include their college transcripts.
