Additional Information
The Wednesday, October 14, 2009 tour agenda should allow time to visit other sites in the Memphis
Downtown area. Some of the suggested sites are: Beale Street, Belz Museum of Asian & Judaic Art,
Southern Folklore Museum, Main Street Trolley, The Peabody Hotel, Peabody Place, Auto Zone Park, and
the FEDEX Forum.
As an alternative to the Downtown Memphis tour on Wednesday, some of you might want to tour
Graceland, the home of Elvis Presley. If enough interest is shown, I will schedule one of the buses for this
tour. The cost of this tour will be the responsibility of those wishing to participate.
The Graceland Platinum Tour includes the Graceland Mansion Audio Tour: Main level of the home, two
rooms in the basement, exhibit of Elvis' early years, Elvis' father's business office, trophy building with gold
records and awards, racquetball building with exhibits, Meditation Garden and final resting place of Elvis;
Elvis's two custom jets, Elvis Automobile Museum, and the memorable “Elvis in Hollywood,” “Elvis Lives
- The King of Pop Culture” and “Private Presley” exhibits. The tour takes approximately 3 hours.
You may visit www.elvis.com for more information.
The rates for this tour are $27.00 each for groups of 15 or more.
If you are interested in this tour, please complete the section below and include a separate check made
payable to NAIA Conference 2009 for $27.00.

Dear Institutional Agribusiness Professional
The Mississippi Department of Corrections and the NAIA invites you to attend the 2009 NAIA Conference
during October 11- 15, 2009 at Sam's Town Casino and Resort in Robinsonville, Mississippi. Robinsonville
is 30 minutes south of Memphis, Tennessee, in the historic Mississippi Delta.
This year's exciting conference features on-target training, round table forums, and a tour of the historic
Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman, Mississippi. Mississippi State Penitentiary consists of over
15,000 acres with 8 units housing approximately 4,100 inmates of every level of custody. Having been in
existence since 1901, it is the oldest and largest of our three major institutions. You will view all aspects of
the Prison Agricultural Enterprise program plus garment manufacturing and metal fabrication plants
operated by Mississippi Prison Industries Program. The Mississippi Prison Agricultural Enterprise program
consist of approximately 1,200 acres of vegetables, 4,400 acres of row crops, a 4,000 head farrow-to-finish
swine operation, 36,000 layer hen operation, feed mill, farm equipment repair shop and a state of the art
food processing facility and cold storage.
The tours for companions and guests of members feature variety and fun. And, of course, you will not be
able to overlook the seven casinos in the area that are open 24 hours per day for your enjoyment.
Rooms have been blocked at Sam's Town Hotel & Casino at the rate of $49.00 plus 10% tax based on
double occupancy per night under the Group Name of NAIA and a Group Code of: NAIJ09A. When
making reservations please use the group name and group code to insure the group rate.
Any room requiring triple occupancy will be charged an additional $10.00 per room, per night. A credit
card or $50.00 deposit will be required at check in from all guests to insure payment of incidentals.
The deadline for making reservations to insure the group rate is September 26, 2009. Room reservations
may be cancelled 24 hours prior to arrival without penalty.
“HOTEL CONTACT INFORMATION” The contact information for the hotel is as follows:

“TIGHT BUDGETS????” Yes, everyone is facing tight budgets, and it seems agency travel and training
dollars are always the first budget items to be cut - - but don't be quick to write off this conference.
Consider that this year’s conference is centrally located in Mississippi, making travel only a day's driving
distance away for many and air fares affordable for others. And, we have a wonderful hotel rate and a low
registration fee. This makes this year’s conference a very affordable training investment.
The conference itinerary and registration forms are included herewith. Please complete the forms in their
entirety and please print your information, as this is the only way we have to record your information into
our membership database.
“RSVP” Although we will accept walk-ins on a space available basis, I encourage everyone to please try to
pre-register. Our budget is tight also, we need a good count on conference registrations prior to the
conference upon which we will plan meals, receptions, and transportation, and we don’t want to make the
costly mistake of over- or under-planning. Please try to return your registration by September 1, 2009.
For those who will be flying, there is a small airport in Tunica, Mississippi, but your best choice likely will
be to fly into the Memphis Airport. The hotel does not provide shuttle service to and from the airport, but I
will have staff available to shuttle. Contact information is on the registration form (advanced notice please).
I trust it is your desire to grow both personally and professionally, and to enlarge your professional
networking circle, so I encourage you to attend and support this conference and your NAIA. NAIA is only
as strong as the membership, and we plan for this conference to both meet your needs and to spur a growth
in membership and attendance. For more information on the NAIA please visit www.naiaweb.com . Please
share this conference packet information with your up-line supervisor and your agribusiness co-workers,
and/or you can contact me, and I will promptly send them a packet or make a call on your behalf.
Contact information for your questions concerning the conference is on the registration form.
Remember you won't find a better place to visit, make new friends, and renew old friendships, because in
Mississippi ". . . it's like coming home."
See you in October,
Stanley H. Brooks, Coordinator, NAIA Conference 2009
