APPLICATION FORM
Please note this programme starts every September and is taught at our Canterbury campus.
Please complete this application form if you are a Graduate new to the early years sector
applying to undertake Early Years ITT through an employment based route.
The Application Form will be the basis of our computer record and records held by your University,
Department/Faculty and Tutor. Please complete it carefully, using BLOCK CAPITALS in black ink or biro.
All items should be complete, please ensure that signatures are given in sections 5, 7 and 8.
The earlier we receive your application, the sooner you will be offered an interview. Please note that this pathway has
limited funded places.
REFERENCES
You must include with this application TWO signed references on headed notepaper recommending you for the
programme. The references should be from parties who can verify your suitability to work with young children
successfully. Referees should provide within the letter their name, address, job title and relationship to you.
Employer Learning Support Agreement
As part of the application
a) You must ask your employer to compete section five of this application form agreeing for you to undertake the
academic and placement requirements of the programme.
b) If you are the Employer of the Early Years setting you will need to sign to agree that you will adhere to the
academic, financial and placement requirements of the programme.
QUALIFICATIONS
All entrants to early years teaching in England are required to have a UK degree or equivalent qualification. Those
entering graduate Early Years ITT programmes need to have attained a degree-level qualification before they commence
the programme.
In addition to a UK degree or equivalent entrants are also required to have GCSEs (or equivalent) in English Language,
Mathematics and Science at grade C or above.
All entrants beginning Early Years ITT will need to have passed the national professional skills tests prior to entry. If you
are selected for interview, we would strongly encourage you to have attempted both the skills tests at least once before
you come for interview.

We are required to carry out Enhanced DBS clearance for all students on Early Years Teacher Status, even if you already
currently hold this in your setting. Further details relating to DBS clearance will be given if your application is
successful.

This support includes:

An endorsement of the candidate’s suitability for the programme and teaching in general;

Facilitation of release for weekly University-based teaching sessions (Postgraduate Teaching Sessions
and Early Years ITT training days held at the University)

Facilitation of work- related tasks required as part of the taught programme

Facilitation of up to 120 days of full-time school/early years -based experience, this experience will
takes place in the employees own setting, however at least 10 -20 days of this will be in another setting
for example, two weeks in an Ofsted rated Good – Outstanding School (National Curriculum key stage
one and two) or, an Ofsted rated Good – Outstanding Early Years (EYFS) setting to gain experience
across the 0-5 years age range.
An agreement to pay in full student fees of £9,000. As the employer, you will receive an Employers Incentive
to cover these and other additional costs. Further details regarding this will be available by emailing
