STARPACK INDUSTRY AWARDS 2008
Design and marketing performance across branded goods and retail markets are among the key attributes asked of entries to the rejuvenated Starpack Industry Awards 2008.
Placing additional emphasis on consumer facing issues across the complete packaging community, the awards will also address the burning consumer issue of environmental sustainability.
The Starpack Industry Awards 2008 will focus on packs delivering significant improvements across design and marketing, environmental performance, and technical developments.
“Winning a Starpack Award should be the aspiration of everyone involved in the packaging supply chain and giving the awards both a consumer and market facing focus should ensure that they are valued not just by packaging businesses but by their customers –the brand owners and retailers, ” explains Steve Kelsey chair of the judging panel, and managing director of design consultancy PI

.
Recent years has already seen an influx of more and more entries involving brand owners and retailers which underlines the essential role packaging plays in their business strategies.
“The real achievement will be to make a Starpack Gold Star a ‘must win’ for brand owners and retailers. Ultimately Starpack Award winners should provide a benchmark by which the whole industry can be judged, ” states Kelsey.

Mark Barthel, special adviser, for platinum sponsor WRAP (Waste & Resources Action
Programme) said: “Environmental performance and sustainability are critical to the future of brands and retailers. Consumers have never been keener to see manufacturers and retailers deliver on their corporate responsibilities, and in coming years this will be a key criteria by which business success is judged.
“Starpack 2008 provides an ideal platform for stakeholders throughout the supply chain to share best practice and create visions for the future of sustainable packaging.”
