We are pleased to invite you to "The second International Fair of conservation, restoration,
restoration of castles and historic buildings" which will be held in Sremska Mitrovica / BSC"
Pinki "and "The Imperial Palace "/ from 01 - 03 June 2011. entitled - HERITAGE '11.
Why Sremska Mitrovica?
Because the remains of the once prosperous and powerful Roman city of Sirmium are
concealed beneath the streets of today’s Sremska Mitrovica. The history of the Roman city
begins 2000 years ago and due to its geographical position it has always been the center of
economic and cultural developments. The significance of its geographical location was found
in the ancient times, when it represented an important center and crossroad.
These facts take upon us to be ready for cooperation at all times and to be good hosts for every
good idea. The best example is this fair.
Certainly, the protection of cultural monuments is very complex and responsible task, which
does not consist only of conservation and restoration work, but also taking measures to reduce
or prevent their future damage or decline under the influence of distractive factors.
The aim of the fair is to actuate the condition of cultural heritage in Serbia on the local and
international level and concerns the necessity of raising awareness for its protection in order to
preserve it for future generations, as well as to prepare the use of the European Union funds
for the Protection of Cultural Heritage.
Also, we want to provide the access to the visitors who will be able to meet practical
demonstrations and presentations of traditional materials and technologies used in the
conservation and restoration work, as well as those completely new.
The fair is meant to scholars and experts in the field of cultural heritage protection, art history,
architecture, urbanism, urban planning, economics, marketing, tourism and other scientific
fields, conservators, restorers, archaeologists, representatives of state institutions, local
administrations and governments, producers of construction materials and substances for the
protection, foundations, and to potential investors as well as owners of castles and old
buildings.
The fair covers the following areas:
Technologies and techniques for restoration, materials for restoration and chemical products,
equipment and tools for conservation, materials for reconstruction, inventory methods, archive
material, research studies and innovations, protection of historic buildings, restoration of
gardens, crafts, publications and specialized magazines, thematic exhibitions...
