Nurse Practitioner– Part Time or Per Diem

$41.45 to $59.00 per hour DOE
POSITION: Under the administrative supervision of the Executive Director, the Nurse Practitioner provides
patients with diagnosis and treatment for basic health problems in our family practice clinic. The Nurse
Practitioner also provides assistance in promoting health education and positive lifestyles through promotion of
NUI’s Women’s Healthcare and Diabetic Care & Education programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 Conducts comprehensive physical examinations, diagnoses, treats, and educates patients; provides referrals
to specialists as needed
 Orders, reviews, and informs patients of results on all laboratory tests, x-rays, MRIs’ and EKG’s
 Analyzes data collected to determine patient health status, developmental problems and identifies differential
diagnoses based on patient history, physical examinations, and clinical findings and discusses results with
patients.
 Prescribes, administers, and dispenses medication.
 Has knowledge and interest in prevention of diabetes and diabetic care.
 Coordinates a plan of care, implementation of patient treatments, assessment reviews, discussions of
disease prevention, and patient education.
 Collaborates with other clinic staff regularly to ensure quality patient care.
 Perform admission history & physical, accurate, specific, and timely documentation in progress notes, and
prepare discharge summaries as required.
 Conduct quality assurance studies of chart documents and the quality of care provided to patients.
 Assists in preparing training materials for ongoing and continuing education courses, with emphasis on
diabetic self-management education.
 May with coordination and planning of health care events
EXPERIENCE & TRAINING: Must have graduated from an accredited NP program with either a Master’s or
Doctorate degree in Nursing and be licensed as an APN by the Nevada State Board of Nursing; have at least
two (2) years’ fulltime experience working as an APN under the supervision of a physician in either family
practice, or women’s health care; be ANCC certified, DEA ready, and possess current Advanced Cardiac Life
Support and/or Basic Life Support CPR certification.
LICENSING: Possess a current APN license in good standing in the State of Nevada issued by the Nevada
Board of Nursing and a Nevada State Board of Pharmacy License with full prescribing privileges, be ANCC
certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner – Board Certified, and must possess a valid Nevada Driver’s License.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Employment will be contingent upon completion of a pre-employment drug
screen and fingerprinted criminal background check with satisfactory results.
