Walking tour around the Warsaw Old Town and Royal Route – 4 hours 27 May 2009 – from 2.00 pm to 6:00 pm OLD TOWN St. Ann’s Church – temple of Warsaw’s students, The Castle Square with the Column of King Sigismund III Vasa, the view of the Royal Castle – seat of Polish kings, St. John’s Cathedral – with magnificent Gothic interiors and unforgettable organ concert, Old Town Market Square, the City Walls with Barbican, Madame Curie’s House in the New Town Area. ROYAL ROUTE Walk through the most famous and elegant avenue in Warsaw: Nowy Swiat and Krakowskie Przedmieście – visting palaces, churches and monuments including: the Presidential Palace, University of Warsaw, St. Cross-Church with Chopin’s heart and Copernicus Statue. SHOPPING / COFFEE BREAK Feel at ease. To enjoy your free time (1 h.), you will find a lot of shops and cafés along the Royal Route up to the Three Crosses Square surrounded by designer boutiques. The guided tour around the Old Town and the Royal Route is free for all participants. 2. Sightseeing of Warsaw – guided tour by coach – 6 hours 28 May 2009 – from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm WILANOW PALACE The true masterpiece of baroque architecture, former private residence of King John III Sobieski - famous conqueror of the Turks in the battle of Vienna in 1683. See the magnificent interiors and the Italian style gardens surrounding the Palace. ŁAZIENKI PARK Take a stroll in the former Royal Grounds to see picturesque Palace on the Water, Amfitheatre, Chopin Monument - beautifully set in the romantic park. BACK TO THE CITY CENTRE / HISTORICAL SIGHTS Palace of Culture and Science, The Monument of Warsaw Uprising , Theatre Square with Grand Opera and former Town Hall buildings, The Tomb of Unknown Soldier, Belvedere Palace. SHOPPING / FREE TIME AT „GOLDEN TERRACES” SHOPPING MALL - 1,5 h. Guided Tour to Cracow 29–31 May 2009 Cracow (Kraków) is a unique city. The former capital from the 11th to the end of 16th century has survived turns of history retaining approximately 3000 historical buildings from various periods. Krakow is both the witness and the monument of Polish history and culture. The city was also the scene of coronations and eternal resting place of Polish kings. DAY 1 – 29 MAY Transfer from the Sofitel Victoria Hotel to Cracow by coach or train* 7:30 pm – Dinner at one of the famous restaurants in the Old Town in Cracow DAY 2 – 30 MAY 9:00 am– Departure from the hotel to the Wieliczka Salt Mine Wieliczka is famous for one of the oldest salt mines in Europe, which has been in operation for at least 700 years. The oldest part of the mine is opened to the public as a museum. Our route in the mine leads you through galleries, chambers and chapels on three levels. All altarpieces, figures and monuments are carved in salt. The highlight is the richly ornamented Chapel of St. Kinga. The Wieliczka Salt Mine was placed in 1978 on the UNESCO World Cultural heritage list. 1:00 pm – Back to Cracow / lunch at one of the local restaurants 4:00 pm - walking tour in the Cracow Old Town – approx. 3 h Wawel Cathedral This unique church is located on Wawel Hill in Cracow. It has a 1000-year history and was the traditional coronation site of Polish monarchs. It is the cathedral of the archdiocese of Cracow. Pope John Paul II offered his first mass as a priest in the Crypt of the Cathedral on 2 November 1946 and later as Pope considered being buried there. Main Market Square One of the largest town squares in Medieval Europe . The main landmarks are merchants’ stalls (13th century) converted into the renaissance Cloth Halls and the Gothic Church of St. Mary which interiors are housing the masterpiece of European gothic art - the 15th century wooden altar by Wit Stwosz. 7:00 p.m. – dinner at one the restaurants in Kazimierz – former Jewish district of Cracow DAY 3 – 31 MAY 8:00 am – transfer from the Cracow hotel to Warsaw by coach or train* 3:00 pm – arrival to Warsaw * For a group of minimum 10 participants it is recommended to use a bus transport to Cracow. If the group is smaller, it is faster and more comfortable to go to Cracow by train and use a minibus on the spot.
