ABSTRACT
The abstract should appear at the top of the left-hand
column of text, about 12 mm below the title area and no
more than 80 mm in length. The abstract should contain
about 100 to 150 words, and should be identical to the
abstract text submitted electronically. All manuscripts
must be in English, printed in black ink.
capitalized, and in Times 14-point, boldface type. The
authors' name(s) and affiliation(s) appear below the title in
capital and lower case letters. Papers with multiple authors
and affiliations may require two or more blocks for this
information. Please relate authors and their affiliations by
using superscript numbers (1, 2, 3, …) after the author
names and in front of affiliation names.
Formatting is easiest if you use the format templates
“FIRA RWC 06 Paper Title”, “FIRA RWC 06 Author
Name” and “FIRA RWC 06 Author Address”.
1. INTRODUCTION
4. TYPE-STYLE AND FONTS
These guidelines include complete descriptions of the
fonts, spacing, and related information for producing your
proceedings manuscripts. Please follow them and if you
have any questions, please send an email to
norman.weiss@firacongress.de
2. FORMATTING YOUR PAPER
The paper should be within 6-page limit, including all
figures, tables, and references. All printed material,
including text, illustrations, and charts, must be kept within
a print area of 175 mm wide by 247 mm high. Do not write
or print anything outside the print area. The top margin
must be 25 mm, except for the title page (35 mm), and the
left margin must be 19 mm. All text must be in a twocolumn format. Columns are to be 83 mm wide, with an 8
mm space between them. Text must be fully justified.
3. PAGE TITLE SECTION
The paper title (on the first page) should begin 35 mm
from the top edge of the page, centered, completely
To achieve the best rendering Times New Roman (or
Times for Mac users) should be used throughout the entire
document. In addition, this will give the proceedings a
more uniform look. Please use 10 point type for abstract
and body text throughout the document (including figure
captions) and 9 point type for footnote text.
You should use the format templates named “Standard”
and “Standard indented” for the text body and “Footnote”
for footnotes.
Please use single line spacing - do not double-space
your paper.
The first paragraph in each section should not be
indented, but all following paragraphs within the section
should be indented as these paragraphs demonstrate.
5. MAJOR HEADINGS
Major headings, for example, "1. Introduction", should
appear in all capital letters, bold face if possible, centered
in the column, with 8 mm space before, and 7 mm after.
Use a period (".") after the heading number, not a colon.
The format template “FIRA RWC 06 Section Header”
should be used for section headings (it automatically
numbers your headings). The template “FIRA RWC 06
Abstract Header” should be used for the abstract header.
5.1. Subheadings
Subheadings should appear in lower case (initial word
capitalized) in boldface. They should start at the left
margin with 8 mm space before and 4 mm after.
The format template “FIRA RWC 06 Subsection
Header” should be used for subsection headings.
5.1.1. Sub-subheadings
Sub-subheadings, as in this paragraph, are discouraged.
However, if you must use them, they should appear in
lower case (initial word capitalized) and start at the left
margin with 8 mm space before and 4 mm space after.
They should be in italics.
The format template “FIRA RWC 06 Sub-Subsection
Header” should be used for subsection headings.
6. PRINTING YOUR PAPER
Although you do not need to submit your camera-ready
paper in hardcopy, please make sure that your cameraready paper file is printable and the printout looks fine,
before you submit the file.
7. PAGE NUMBERING
Please do not paginate your paper. Page numbers, session
numbers, and conference identification will be inserted
when the paper is included in the proceedings.
8. ILLUSTRATIONS, GRAPHS,
PHOTOGRAPHS AND TABLES
Illustrations must appear within the designated margins.
They may span the two columns. If possible, position
illustrations at the top of columns, rather than in the middle
or at the bottom. Caption and number every illustration.
The caption format is the same as the standard format, but
italics and centered (template “FIRA RWC 06 Caption”).
If an illustration is not as wide as the column, center it. All
halftone illustrations must be clear black and white prints.
Do not use any colors in illustrations [1]. There should be a
one-line space before and after illustrations, except if a
heading follows immediately.

9. FOOTNOTES
Use footnotes1 sparingly (or not at all!) and place them at
the bottom of the column on the page on which they are
referenced. Use Times 9-point type, single-spaced. To help
your readers, avoid using footnotes altogether and include
necessary peripheral observations in the text (within
parentheses, if you prefer, as in this sentence).
10. SUBMISSION
Only electronic submissions in PS or PDF format can be
accepted. (Whenever possible please submit in PDF
format.) Upon acceptance, authors will be required to
register and present their paper at the conference.
Please note that failure to comply with the format
guidelines might result in exclusion of the paper from the
conference proceedings.
Your manuscript can only be included in the congress
and its proceedings if we receive the copyright form (see
the congress website http://www.firacongress.de) signed
before the compilation of the proceedings. Therefore
please make sure that you prepare and send it to us by real
mail until the camera-ready-manuscript-due-date at the
latest. Faxed or e-mailed copies of the copyright form
cannot be accepted.
For submission please visit the submission website
(http://www.easychair.org/FIRARWC06/). The submission
system will then guide you through the submission
process.
You will be notified about the submission and review
progress by e-mail, so please make sure the email address
you supply is correct and working. Any information
entered on the submission site will be kept private.
1
This is a sample footnote. It’s use is discouraged.
Please note that you will have to register for the
submission system regardless if you have already
registered for the congress or not.
If you prefer anonymous reviewing of your paper,
please exclude the author(s) information from your
contribution when submitting it. In that case only the
program chairs will be able to determine who send in a
particular paper and your paper is therefore reviewed
anonymously. If you contribution is accepted, you must
resubmit it including the author(s) information until the
camera-ready-paper-due-date for it to be included in the
proceedings.
11. BIBLIOGRAPHY
List and number all bibliographical references at the end of
the paper. The references can be numbered in alphabetic
order or in order of appearance in the document. When
referring to them in the text, type the corresponding
reference number in square brackets as shown at the end of
this sentence [2].
Please see the examples below for the references
format to be used. It is also available as template “FIRA
RWC 06 Reference”. Please format Journal names and
book titles in italics. [3]
