OPENING—The Area Service Committee was called to order by the Chair, at 1:35pm with a
moment of silence followed by the Serenity Prayer.

GROUP REPORTS:
12 at 12: Next business meeting Friday before Area. Group can use more home group members.
Meeting is going well with approx. 13 people in attendance each time. Requesting noise be minimized
in parking lot in respect of neighboring home. $20.00 donation.
Common Desires: Next business meeting Thursday before area. Attendance has been picking up this
last month and we are remaining hopeful this trend will continue. All has been well with several
newcomers. $15.00 donation.
Common Ground: Next business meeting August 24, 2010. Meeting attendance steady with a few
newcomers. No problems to report. $!0.00 donation.
Common Welfare: Next business meeting Thursday before area. We meet every Tuesday and
Thursday. Discuss steps on Tuesday and Traditions on Thursday. Our group is doing well. Meeting
attendance is down a bit but we still have a good number to carry the message. $10.00 Donation.
A Gathering of Men and Women: Next business meeting Sunday before area. Attendance is up and
all is going well. $26.00 donation.

Fishing for Recovery:
H.O.W.: Next business meeting Tuesday before area. Attendance down during day meetings Picnic is
August 24th this is a Tuesday at 5pm. This is a pot luck. The home group will supply the hot dogs. No
donation.
How It Works: Next home group meeting Monday before Area. Meeting going well good attendance
split men and women on Mondays. Abundance of home group members doing service. $40.00
donation.
Hugs Not Drugs: Next home group meeting August 20, 2010. Attendance is steady. One newcomer
lively discussions. $10.00 donation.
If You Want What We Have: Next business meeting August 21, 2010. Home group attendance has
remained steady. Home group member support has been down but is steadily increasing. We have a
donation this month of $20.00.
I Can't We Can: Next business meeting August 16, 2010. No problems group attendance is fair. I am
going to remain GSR because my work situation has changed again. $10.00 donation.
In the Solution: next home group meeting Friday before Area. All is good.
It Works How and Why: Next business meeting Thursday before Area. We meet every Thursday at
7pm at New Life Vineyard Church 1014 E Ashman We have good numbers in attendance averaging
about 30 people this meeting is also attended by the treatment center. $25.00 donation.
Learning To Live: Next business meeting Thursday before Area. Our group picnic went well, small
attendance group has young recovery and can use support. $10.00 donation.
New Awakenings: Next home group meeting Saturday before Area. Attendance is low and donations
are sown. Continue to have two to three breakout sessions which includes and IP, the “ Just for today,”
and a book study. We are currently discussing the 12 steps. $5.00 donation.
Never Alone: Next business meeting Wednesday before Area.. We meet every Wed and Sunday nights
from 7 to 8:15pm and every third Sunday we have an open speaker. We could use more members but
are doing best we can.
No Fear: Next home group meeting August 25, 2010. We have adjusted our meeting format to 60
minutes and changed our meeting from a closed to an open meeting. We have dropped the Meditation
format that took place one time a month. Attendance averages 16 to 20 members we meet on
Wednesdays at 12:30pm at Messiah Lutheran in Bay City $20.00 donation.

Steppin Straight: Next business meeting Wednesday before Area. .
Survival: Next home group meeting Tuesday before Area. All is well. Can't complain. Meetings nice
size Tuesday meeting will be held outside this week only. Bring your own chair and beverage. Thank

Unity: Next business meeting
Willing to Make the Effort: Next home group business meeting August 27, 2010. Still no GSR but
were doing well otherwise. $27.00 donation.

RCM Report: Next Committee Meeting Sunday August 1, 2010 At 9am in Flint. Regional Meetings
take place on the 1st Sunday of the even months at 9:00am. Here is our upcoming schedule. Sunday
August 1, 2010: Carman Ainsworth Senior Center, 2071 S Graham Rd Flint, Mi. 48532 Note: Flint
will host 12 Step Workshop on Saturday July 31st at the Bridge Church, G-3326 corunna rd Flint Mi.

3) Status of “Behind the Walls” sponsorship project. 4) Discussion of Statewide Initiative (by state of
Michigan) call Recovery Oriented Systems of Care (ROSC). %) Update World Service Structure
Changes. Request for $40.00 for gas for August MRSCNA in Flint. ILS Willard
Secretary Report: June minutes were sent out June 9th via e-mail and USPS. I had a minor problem
AGAIN with opening e-mails but I promptly fixed it . I am asking to have my ;prudent reserve
replenished of $66.95 I spent $29.11 in May for postage and copies and $37.84 in June for a total of
$66.95. Due to my in laws 50th wedding anniversary I will be unable to attend next months Area. But
my co-Chair Grant will be there. ILS Linda G.
SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Activities: Next committee meeting ILS Rodney
Public Relations: Next Committee Meeting August 9th and August 23rd Mondays at 5:15pm at
Aldersgate Church in Midland. The Public Relations subcommittee met on July 12th and July 19th
Helpline: We are receiving a fair number of calls on the helpline at this time. We have updated call list
volunteers as of July 20th 2010. If anyone is interested please contact a subcommittee member. H & I:
H & I could use more volunteers due to the influx of requests of outside agencies The Freeland Prison
would like a L4 meeting on Friday nights at 6pm. Also Midland Jail would like separate mens and
womens meetings on Tuesdays at 7pm. We are taking names and DOB to get people cleared so we can
have an orientation for these people. Please take back to all home groups. River haven: recovery
oriented systems of care was attended by myself and Willard Y. on July 8th and invited to return on July
29th August 26th and September 23rd. A lot of info was shared and is a big help All current H & I
meetings are functioning although a little underhanded. Thanks to those volunteers I am enclosing
receipts for expenses as follows: $195.57 for printing of meeting lists. $20.00 for 2 public relations
handbooks. Total of $215.57 to restore prudent reserve. ILS ?Tim R. Interim PR Chair.
Literature: Next committee Meeting TBD. No trusted servants were in attendance to hold a meeting
on July 10th. Release of Chapters 6 and 7 of the “Living Clean” project are pending from work area
service. Meetings will resume upon the release of new material. ILS Tammy R.
Retreat: Next committee meeting is TBD (New Committee will be formed in August). The final
Treasury report has been completed. A copy of the final Treasury report is attached. The retreat
committee has a donation of $1,097.54. the DNR has confirmed that the retreat will be held on May
13-15th 2011. Patti B has officially accepted the nomination for chairperson and expressed her
