Molecular Medicinal Chemistry

Information for Authors

Aims and Scope

Molecular Medicinal Chemistry is an international journal that publishes original material on structure-activity relationships of bioactive compounds and related subjects.

Manuscripts of three types are considered: fulllength Articles, short contributions of about two printed pages, including tables and figures, that fall under the heading of Notes . Reviews on timely topics are generally invited, although unsolicited outlines or manuscripts will be considered.

Requirements

This journal encourages to explore, and to publish the findings in pursuit of innovative potential drugs, based on discrete molecular targets, in the areas of cardiovascular research, neuroscience, anaesthesia (including pain management), gastrointestinal, respiratory and metabolic diseases, immunology, reproductive health, oncology, virology, antimicrobials and inflammation.

The scope involves contributions to developing the structure-activity relationship necessary for driving research to produce potential clinical candidates and ethical pharmaceutical drugs.

Agrochemicals, labelled compounds, analytical standards and metabolites are also welcomed.

Multidisciplinary drug discovery and analysis are encouraged, e.g. closely interaction with chemists, biologists, biochemists, and computational chemists.

Design, synthesis and purification of compounds of medicinal interest, particularly new molecular targets, also those from natural sources obtained through bio-guided assays, development and validation of assays and reagents, implementation of bioassays to screen and evaluate small molecule drug leads, highthroughput combinatorial chemistry, comprehensive computer-aided drug design combined with a pharmaceutical discovery research, computational analysis in order to understand organic compounds structures, conformations and to predict properties, drug metabolism support in the early drug discovery phase using standard organic analytical and spectroscopic techniques, e.g.

GC-MS, 1D- and

2D-NMR, LC-MS, and so on.

The aim is to support medicinal chemistry papers by applying computational techniques to the design and optimization of innovative drug leads, e.g.

combinatorial library design and analysis, pharmacophore mapping, QSAR, de novo ligand design, molecular docking and protein-ligand interaction analysis. Analytical method development, method validation, drug pattern characterisation, stability and dissolution tests, on active pharmaceutical ingredients.

Submit a double-spaced electronic version of the manuscript in Word®. The font should be

Times New Roman, 12 points.

The text must be in both correct and idiomatic

English.

Designate the corresponding author and provide telephone, fax numbers and e-mail address.

Include a running title of less than 50 characters

(including spaces), and indicate on the title page your choice of category assignment.

For Articles provide an abstract of less than 200 words, without including references.

For Notes , less than three printed pages must include all tables, figures and abstract.

Full titles for references are required; unpublished papers will not be listed unless they are in press .

Submit a set of figures of good quality to allow evaluation.

Indicate finantial support (Organization, grant

No.)

Electronic Submission of Manuscripts .

Manuscripts should be submitted only as electronic versions by attachment of e-mail

(MIME) to mmc@idecefyn.com.ar. Authors are requested to transmit the text, figures and tables of the manuscript in electronic form, each time a revised version is done.

There are no submission fees or page charges.

Each manuscript should be accompanied by a letter to the editor.

All files should be included in a single archive, the size of which must not exceed 1 megabyte.

The manuscript will be edited according to the style of the journal, and authors must read the proofs carefully.

I DECEFYN www.idecefyn.com.ar

Manuscripts are accepted after being peerreviewed with the understanding that the same work has not been and will not be submitted elsewhere, and that its submission for publication has been approved by all the authors and by the institution where the work was carried out. Further, any person cited as a source of personal communications should have approved such citation. Written authorization may be required at the Editor's discretion.

Manuscripts with multiple authorship are accepted on the assumption that all authors participated meaningfully in the work and agree on the submitted version of the work. Articles and any other material published in Molecular

Medicinal Chemistry represent the opinions of the author(s) and should not be construed to reflect the opinions of the Editor(s), Editorial board and the Publisher.

Authors submitting a manuscript do so on the understanding that if it is accepted for publication, copyright the article, including the right to reproduce the article in all forms and media, shall be assigned exclusively to the

Publisher. The Copyright Transfer

Agreement , which may be copied from the pages following the Information for Authors, should be signed by the appropriate person(s) and should be faxed to the publisher at the same time of the electronic submission of the work.

The transfer of copyright does not take effect until the manuscript is accepted for publication.

Authors are responsible for obtaining permissions to reprint previously published figures, tables, and other material. Letters of permission should accompany the final submission.

Manuscripts should be concise and consistent in style, spelling, and use of abbreviations. The original electronic version must be written, double-spaced, Letter size, with 2-cm. margins on all sides. Each manuscript should have a separate title page indicating title of article, authors' names, complete affiliations, a running title (not exceeding 50 characters), and the corresponding author's e-mail address (to which proofs should be sent), telephone number and fax number. In creating a title for your paper, please omit words such as rapid , improved , simple , sensitive , efficient and convenient . Each is felt to be redundant and actually slows down the reader who is scanning the article titles and wants to know more about the research itself.

Only standard abbreviations should be used in the article title or running title. Please number all pages of the manuscript. The appropriate subject category should be indicated on the title page. An abstract (200 words) should be included on the second page for all Regular

Articles, but not Reviews. Key Words (not more than 6) should be listed immediately after the abstract.

Text The suggested organization of an Article is: Abstract; Introduction; Experimental; Results and Discussion; Conclusions;

Acknowledgements; References. Some of these sections may be combined if the presentation is thereby made clearer or more effective.

Notes should be about two printed pages. The standards are the same as those for other articles. No formal organization is required, but an abstract should state the problem and the means for its resolution; a brief summary statement concludes the paper.

Names of chemical or organic substances should follow the recommendations of the

IUPAC Biochemical nomenclature. Authors should draw attention to any particular chemical or biological hazards that may be involved in carrying out the experiments described. Any relevant safety precautions should be described; if an accepted code of practice has been followed, a reference to the relevant standards should be given.

Figures should be numbered consecutively with

Arabic numerals in order of mention in the text.

Each figure should have a descriptive legend.

Legends should be typed together on a separate sheet, double-spaced. All illustrations must be in .GIF or .JPG format. A convenient size for drawings is (21 x 27.5 cm.) 6 points. Wide variation in type sizes is undesirable.

Photographs must be kept to a minimum and must be submitted as .GIF or .JPG formats; the magnification should be indicated by a scale whenever possible. Simple histograms should be avoided; a table or a paragraph in the text is preferred.

Tables should be typed on separate pages, numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals in order of mention in the text. Each table should have a short explanatory title.

Footnotes must be avoided all over the text.

Footnotes to tables should be identified with lowercase italic superscript letters and placed at the bottom of the table.

References should be quoted in the text by name and year, and listed at the end of the paper alphabetically, e.g. (Crabs and Smith, 1998), more than two authors are cited as: (Brown et al ., 2001). Full titles of the papers must be included. Authors are instructed to cite all relevant previous work. References to

manuscripts as "submitted," "in preparation,"

"personal communication," or the like are unacceptable. Abbreviations of journal titles should follow the style used in the most recent edition of Chemical Abstracts Service Source

Index . Please also note style of capitalization and punctuation for journal articles and edited books in the following examples:

Rice-Evans C, Miller NJ, (1994). Total antioxidant status in plasma and body fluids. Meth

Enzymol 234 : 279-293.

Greenwood NN; Earsshaw A. (1988) Chemie der Elemente ; Chapter 2, pp 14 VCH;

Weinheim, Germany.

Proofs . Article electronic proofs will be sent to the author.

Publishing. After the authors agree with the final proofs they will receive a copy of the article after publishing it in the website of

IDECEFYN, www.idecefyn.com.ar.

Abstracts of all articles are of free access, full articles only can be accessed under request to the editor: mmc@idecefyn.com.ar.
