DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 2.1 Provides hospital-wide wound care education and training to nursing and medical staff, both formally and informally on a regular basis. 2.2 Assesses wounds to ensure correct, to ensure correct cleaning solutions and materials are used to ensure development of knowledge and skills which will be of benefit to the nursing division and to patient care. 2.3 Liaises with all clinical departments in providing product and dressing advice and education. 2.4 Liaises with medical and nursing staff in the management of difficult wounds in all clinical departments. 2.5 Advises on the appropriate course of management/treatment for the patient with difficult wounds. 2.6 Reviews availability of products to ensure quality of patient care and positive wound healing outcomes. 2.7 Liaises with Warehouse and Purchasing Departments to ensure provision of the most appropriate, cost-effective wound care products. 2.8 Provides Head of Departments with relevant information for ordering of appropriate supplies. Forwards copy of minutes to Director of Nursing. 2.10 Provides direct educational support to wound care link nurses in the ward. 2.11 Organizes and coordinates annual Wound Care Seminars for nursing and medical staff. 2.12 Contributes to the CQI & PS system by developing revising appropriate forms, plans applicable to wound care management and pressure area prevention and ensuring that nursing practice is in accordance with Hospital Nursing Policies and Procedures and Internal Standards. 2.13 Participates in professional development/training programmes and nursing forum to ensure the provision of up to date evidence-based practice. 2.14 Submits monthly reports on activities and achievements to Nursing. 2.15 Establishes and develops effective communication with and between all members of the health care team, administrators, patients and relatives. 2.16 Evaluating new wound care products. Director of HOURS OF WORK: 3.1 48 hour per week (or equivalent over a one month period). 3.2 It is expected that 60% of total hours worked will be devoted to the clinical based role and the other 40% will be devoted to research/training preparation. QUALIFICATIONS: 4.1 Essential: 4.1.1 Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent with appropriate registration in country of origin.
