It gives me great pleasure to introduce Erika Martin to my P.E.O. sisters in Saint Paul.
Erika is a bright, talented and outgoing young woman who has always had a good heart
and a desire to help others. She graduated from Cloquet High School in 1998 and from
Cottey College in 2000.
The experience she received at Cottey was one of the best of her life. She formed
lifelong friendships and had the opportunity to live with other young women from across
the country and the world. Her class was the first to travel abroad during spring break
and they spent a week in London. Erika and her Cottey friends have made many road
trips to Nevada to attend Founder’s Day reunions and reconnect with classmates. Three
of her Cottey suitemates were attendants in her wedding.
After earning her bachelors degree in social work from Augsburg College, Erika worked
for Human Services at Hennepin and Ramsey Counties. In December 2006, she
completed her masters degree in public policy from the Humphrey Institute at the
University Minnesota and is presently employed as a Research Analysis Specialist with
the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
Erika’s husband, Eric Martin is a lab technician with Pace Analytical at 3M in
Maplewood. Erika and Eric were married in August 2006. They have a two year-old
Golden Retriever named Ani that they adopted through a rescue organization and she
quickly became part of the family. Erika has been a Saint Paul resident since 2003 and
moved to her current neighborhood on the east side in December 2005.
Erika enjoys volunteering in her community. She and Eric served hot dogs to neighbors
during National Night Out and helped with the District One neighborhood clean up this
fall. Erika was recently elected to the Saint Paul District One Community Council board.
She spends her Tuesday lunch hour reading with a kindergarten student at Franklin Music
Magnet School through the Read Aloud program. She also enjoys traveling, dancing,
running—she recently ran in the Medtronic TC Ten Mile—and keeping in touch with
Cottey friends. Erika is an Episcopalian looking for a church home in the Saint Paul area.
I would recommend Erika for P.E.O. membership even if she wasn’t my daughter. She
will be an active member with much to contribute to the sisterhood. Thank you for your
consideration.
Lovingly in P.E.O.,
Marian Rosted
