2 May 2012 Imagine Denmark… Imagine Denmark coming to London… This can really happen, and it will, 27 July – 12 August at St. Katharine Docks. IMAGINATION– Discover the Danish Spirit is a fantastic three-week showcase celebrating the best of Danish culture, lifestyle, food and drink and VisitDenmark welcomes you all to discover what Denmark has to offer. A small country but a big experience awaits you… 27 - 29 July Denmark is….great food and drink We are kicking off our showcase by offering you some great treats to taste and buy; from traditional Danish pastries to mouth-watering smørrebrød and hot dogs. Yes, the humble hot dog is loved by all Danes and we are bringing a traditional Danish hot dog stand to London. Expect long queues, but it is worth waiting for. It is well known that Denmark produces good beers so it goes without saying, that Denmark is taking over the traditional Dickens Inn and turning it in to a Danish pub with lots of ‘hygge’. This will be the place to bring friends and family and to meet the real Danes. Denmark has for the last three years been the home of the best restaurant in the world. With this fine attribute, Copenhagen is well and truly on the international gourmet map, so to find out what this New Nordic Cuisine is all about, we have invited some top Danish chefs to teach you how to do it through demonstrations and talks. 4 - 5 August Denmark is…..a great country to visit VisitDenmark has teamed up with the coolest capital in Scandinavia, Copenhagen as well as historic east Denmark and seaside south west Jutland to give visitors true inspiration and visions of what a holiday in Denmark can offer in terms of historic towns, beautiful countryside and long sandy beaches. 6 - 8 August Denmark is…the home of the Vikings Yes, they are coming back so watch out. As per usual, they are bringing their favourite mode of transport – a replica this time, of a real 17.3 meter long Viking ship from the Roskilde Viking Museum. A great opportunity for young and old to learn about Viking life and history and of course to hop on board and have your photo taken with a real Danish Viking. 9 -12 August Denmark is…Design and Fashion Danish design is the height of fashion right now, both when it comes to what you wear and to what you have in your home. We bring you the latest and the coolest men’s and women’s wear and jewellery straight from the catwalks of Europe and we let you sit in and try out stylish and timeless Danish furniture. This after you have taken a ride on one of the Danish bikes we are bringing to London. Denmark is a cycling country and after trying out a Danish bike, you might want to leave the car at home and start cycling too. Most of all, throughout the three weeks… Denmark is…Fun This is not a come and look event. This is a fun and interactive event, where you will try out new things, be creative with LEGO, learn about the Danish green lifestyle like how a windmill works - it will be a show for the senses that will thrill and inspire you. You do not have to miss out on the Olympics either as Danish TV 2 will be broadcasting live on an outdoor screen in the heart of the IMAGINATION zone. They say that the Danes are the happiest people in the world, so come along and join us and find out why! Dedicated IMAGINATION – Discover the Danish Spirit website will follow soon.
