Deletion of ITU-T Recommendations
A.
By TSB Circular 59 of 24 July 2001, it was announced that the following ITU-T
Recommendations were deleted, in accordance with the procedures outlined in Resolution 1,
Section 9, of the WTSA (Montreal, 2000):
– ITU-T Recommendation P.35: Handset telephones
– ITU-T Recommendation P.861: Objective quality measurement of telephone-band
(300 – 3 400 Hz) speech codes
The conditions governing the deletion of these ITU-T Recommendations were met and
12 Member States participating in the meeting of Study Group 12 (Geneva, 23 February 2001)
proposed to delete these ITU-T Recommendations. Eleven Administrations of Member States
responded to the consultation on 23 July 2001, and no objection to the deletion was received.

Information on the timeframe and procedure of numbering change in Lithuania
1)
The change of telephone numbers designated for the provision of the fixed
telephone and mobile telephone services shall commence from 1 September
2001 and the change will be fully completed by 31 December 2002 for the fixed
telephone service and by 1 March 2003 for the mobile telephone service.
2)
The international format of Lithuanian telephone numbers shall be changed as
follows:

b) From the start of validity of the new number till closing of the old number

National Post and Telecom Agency (PTS), Stockholm, recalls that National Destination
Code (NDC) 75 has been allocated in Sweden since 9 July 1997 for personal number services.
However, operators in Sweden have experienced that there have been some difficulties
regarding incoming traffic to this NDC.
Administrations and Recognized Operating Agencies (ROAs) are therefore requested to
note that NDC 75 (+46 75 XXX XXXX) is allocated in Sweden for personal number services,
and to programme their switching centres accordingly.

Communication of 8.IX.2001:
Tunisie Télécom, Tunis, announces that the introduction of the new numbering plan of
Tunisia, scheduled for 1 July 2001, has been deferred to 1 October 2001.
Following the decree of the Ministry of Communication Technologies, dated 10 August
2001, Tunisie Télécom will introduce a new telephone numbering plan as from 1 October
2001 at 0000 hours UTC. As from this date, Tunisian telephone numbers will have eight digits
at both the local and long-distance levels.
This change concerns the fixed telephone network and mobile telephone networks.
The notion of area will cease to exist and there will no longer be an area code.
– Fixed telephone network:
The digit 7 will be added after the country code +216.
As from 1 October 2001, for calls throughout the country,
 whether the caller is located in Tunis or another governorate,
 whatever the distance separating calling parties within the territory,
all users must dial the eight-digit number by adding the prefix 7A to the number of the
correspondent (A = 1 to 8: current area code of correspondent).
