IMPORTANT NOTICE RE: CHAMPIONS AND CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS Chapter 20 – Dog Show Rules: Champions and Championship Points Section 1 A dog awarded WINNERS at a championship show held under these Dog Show Rules shall be credited with a number of championship points (ranging from 0 – 5) and the determination of the number of championship points to be credited to a dog awarded WINNERS shall be provided hereunder. Section 2 The schedule to be employed in the determination of the number of points to be allocated to a dog awarded WINNERS shall be as follows: Dogs competing* 1 2 3 to 5 6 to 9 10 to 12 13 or more Points allocated 0 1 2 3 4 5 *includes the dog awarded WINNERS To determine the number of championship points earned by a dog awarded Winners, total all the dogs in competition which the dog defeated, directly or indirectly, for the highest of the following official breed awards: Winners, Best of Winners, Best of Breed, or Best of Opposite Sex and then consult the above schedule. (In counting the number of eligible dogs in competition, a dog that is disqualified, dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge shall not be included in the calculation for championship points.) Additional points according to the schedule listed below will be awarded if the dog awarded WINNERS places in the group. In no case may a dog earn more than five (5) points at a single show. In order for a dog to be recognized as a Champion and its owner provided with a championship certificate the dog must have earned at least one 2 point win either at the breed or group level. CLASSIFICATION In all breeds recognized by the Canadian Kennel Club, the following classes will be provided: JUNIOR PUPPY 6 - 9 Months SENIOR PUPPY 9 – 12 Months CANADIAN BRED Dogs born in Canada, Champions in any country excluded BRED BY EXHIBITOR Dogs owned and handled in the ring by the owner/co-owner or breeder/ Co-breeder. The owner/breeder must handle the dog in this class, but need not Handle the dog for further awards. OPEN CLASS All dogs *SPECIALS ONLY Dogs which have a recorded CKC registration or ERN and have attained the required points for Championship status. EXHIBITION ONLY Dogs entered in this class may not compete in any Regular class, but may Compete in Non-regular classes and/or parades. The following non-regular classes will also be provided. Dogs entered in non-regular classes must also be entered in a Regular Class or in Exhibition only. SIRE & GET Stud dog & 2 or more of his get, not necessarily owned by the same person. DAM & PROGENY Brood Bitch & 2 or more of her progeny, not necessarily owned by the same person BRACE For dogs of one breed (either sex or mixed) owned by the same exhibitor. Two dogs must be entered to make up a brace. PARADE OF VETERANS For any dog or bitch seven years or older. PARADE OF TITLE HOLDERS For dogs or bitches holding CKC or AKC official titles and degrees. SWEEPSTAKES: Classes will be provided for 6-9 months, 9-11 months, and 12-18 months. PRIZE LIST: Rosettes to Best in Sweepstakes and Best Opposite in Sweepstakes.
