DRUG AWARENESS WINNERS
Congratulations to all of our Drug Awareness Winners. Please check the newspaper to see our groups and individuals
who will be receiving awards on April 13th.
YOUTH POWER CLUB
Congratulations to the Youth Power Club. They submitted a grant to help children and adults who are having medical
treatments in the hospitals. They did an outstanding job presenting to the Youth As Resources Board and were
awarded $460 to make care bags to brighten the day of others. If you have any pens notecards, new coloring books or
puzzles, we can add those to the items that we will purchase so we can serve more patients. We are very proud of this
group!
5TH GRADE PARENTS
We hope you visited your child’s Middle School this past Wednesday evening. We also recommend you sign your

color paints, colored pencils, paper, construction paper, sketch books, coloring books, paint by number book, paints,
play dough, stickers, glue, glue sticks, scissors, small art kits or projects or other related craft like items. All donations
must be NEW and the dollar store has many of these items. Please send any donations to school and marked them
Girl Scouts.
CORE VALUE FOR APRIL
HOPE is the core value we will be focusing on in April. Our District defines this with the following descriptions: a
sense that a positive out come is possible even in dire situations, a realistic optimism, faith in each other perseverance.
Please be sure to discuss this value with your student and look for situations that demonstrate the presence of hope.
INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE-LEARNING PROFILE
Our Learning Profile characteristic for April is “balanced”. Look for the nomination forms after spring break so that
you can nominate your child. If you haven’t nominated your child yet for the March word of principled”, please do so
as soon as possible. Our application to become a candidate school has been submitted. Many teachers have already
received Level 1 training. Three staff members will travel to Green Lake this month to network with teachers from
other Wisconsin International Baccalaureate schools.

FROM OUR CHINESE TEACHER
Dear Roosevelt Parents, How time flies! This is the year of the Snake! Roosevelt students have been awesome. They
have learned so many things about Chinese people and the Chinese New Year. We wrote food fortune on the red
paper and we made lanterns in art class as New Year decorations. Students worked in groups to make their Chinese
New Year poster. Recently, we just finished the Chinese Zodiac animals. Student enjoyed the song and the story of
twelve Chinese zodiac animals. We will finish the topic of colors. We are drawing pictures, playing games and doing
activities to practice new words. In April, there will be a Chat’N’Chew about Chinese throughout the year. We will
show you our achievements in the Chinese language and culture. Hope to see you there. Happy Spring Vacation Mr.
Zhang Yong!
TAKE OUR DAUGHTERS AND SONS TO WORK DAY-APRIL 25
“Exposing girls and boys to what a parent or mentor does in the course of a work day is important, but showing them
the value of their education, helping them discover the power and possibilities associated with a balanced work and
family life, and providing then an opportunity to share how they envision the future and begin steps toward their end
goal is the key to achieving success” Carolyn McKecuen.
Students are allowed to participate and be marked ‘present’ for the day. In order to track attendance, please have
participating students submit a ‘prearranged absence request’ form.
