1) Mission Statement and Goals
a. Mission – The Pine Bush Health Professions Survey Academy strives to provide students an
opportunity to survey various healthcare career paths and to observe and interact with
healthcare professionals in authentic settings; Thus empowering them to make informed
decisions about their educational options and professional futures.
b. Goals
i. Graduate with an advanced designation
ii. Instill a respect for human life and quality of life
iii. Instill a deep respect for conventional medical ethics and the quandary of ethical
dilemmas
iv. Become adept at both the academic and social skills that differentiate the best
healthcare providers
v. Understand the business aspect of healthcare delivery
vi. Learn about technologies that are essential to various healthcare careers
2) Prerequisites/Enrollment Criteria
a. 2013-2014
i. Senior Year
ii. 85 or above GPA
iii. 85 or above on English Regents
iv. Must have completed most of general high school credits
v. Fill out application
vi. Transportation statement
vii. 2 teacher recommendations
viii. 85 or above on Living Environment Regents
ix. Completed Chemistry
x. Fully immunized and a complete PPD

any publicity documents emanating from the school or the affiliated facilities

There may be age requirements from certain facilities that need to be considered
There may be issues with some facilities being overwhelmed with requests for student
placements from multiple districts/programs
Field work will be supplemented by group discussions and advisory interaction. Students will be
expected to provide a written reflection of their experiences. A structure for these will be
provided at a later time.
