Position Description Position Title: Position Holder: Reports To: Department: Aviation Development Manager Vacant General Manager Aviation Business Development & Marketing Manager Business Development & Marketing – Queensland Airport’s Limited 1 The Position Main Purpose Manager Business Development and Marketing is responsible for realising the overall aviation business potential for Gold Coast Airport Pty Ltd through strategic partnerships with stakeholders and the identification of new market opportunities as well as ensuring consistency and high standards across a wide range of strategic and tactical marketing activities for the company. Key Objectives Establish and maintain high level relationships with key stakeholders to position Gold Coast Airport as the airport of choice in SE Qld for domestic and international carriers. Maximise aeronautical revenue opportunities by working with all stakeholders to increase RPT air services. Ensure the sustainability of existing air services by developing strategies to grow passenger demand. Work to maximise cooperative marketing funds through partnerships with airlines, tourism industry and relevant businesses. Monitor airline trends and forecast likely impacts on Gold Coast Airport revenue. Develop strategy and manage the implementation of brand development and measurement for the company to increase shareholder value. Maintain consistency in the application of aeronautical pricing to maximise aeronautical yield. Maximise efficiencies through the management of research strategies, data collection, customer relationship management, websites and marketing strategies. Represent Gold Coast Airport in national and international government forums to maximise the group’s potential to capitalise on aviation regulatory policy as well as monitoring the impact of policy changes on the business. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Production of aeronautical traffic forecasts : (a) Long term forecasts for business and facilities planning purposes split by international / domestic and regional for passengers and aircraft movements. (b) Regular monitoring of traffic performance against forecast / budget and periodic refinement or review of forecasts as appropriate. Consultation with airline customers and other stakeholders. Development of an effective partnership management process with all current and potential airline and travel industry customers / partners both within Australia and overseas. Manager Business Development & Marketing – Queensland Airport’s Limited 2 Production of route feasibility studies / proposals for existing and potential new airline customers to develop all aviation markets to / from Gold Coast Airport. These evaluations include the detailed analysis of all relevant statistics often working in close partnership with local, state and federal tourism and development agencies and industry organisations. Nurture close partnerships with all Queensland and Northern New South Wales state and local government bodies in order to co-ordinate / maximise collective influence and activities to promote new air services to/from Gold Coast Airport. Implement strategy as determined by business planning and other methods, to enable Gold Coast Airport to develop marketing campaigns in partnership with travel industry distribution networks (ie. tour operators, wholesalers, travel agents, tourism authorities), other airports and airlines in order to generate increased demand for Gold Coast Airport. Work with the Manager Corporate Affairs in the development of PR activities and messages that support the business development potential of Gold Coast Airport. Work with COO and GM Aviation in the development and delivery of presentations to various audiences to promote Gold Coast Airport. Develop effective relationships with local, state and national air freight community to develop Gold Coast Airport’s future cargo potential. Participate, input and influence future new terminal and airport infrastructure development to ensure that all aviation business development implications are taken into account. Increase efficiencies by managing the collection of statistical data, research projects and customer relationship management databases. Monitor trends and represent Gold Coast Airport in the national and international regulatory environment and ensure Gold Coast airport is strategically positioned to maximise benefits from aeronautical policy (including bilateral air service agreements). Produce regular business development and marketing activity reports for the Chief Operating Officer and other reports for the Board and senior management as required. Maximise opportunities to attract cooperative funding assistance for domestic and international marketing campaigns from state and federal programs. Key Result Areas Increase in the significance of Gold Coast Airport as a key player in the local, state, national and international tourism and airline industries as well as government forums through relationships. Maintenance and distribution of accurate and timely statistics to internal and external parties. Identification, development and implementation of Gold Coast Airport business development opportunities to contribute to the increased aeronautical revenue to the group. Assist in the development of higher yielding aeronautical pricing policies to increase revenue at Gold Coast Airport. Manager Business Development & Marketing – Queensland Airport’s Limited 3 Increase Gold Coast Airport influence on passenger demand to/from subsidiary airports through the implementation of innovative and consistent strategic marketing plans (in conjunction with each airport General Manager). Level of cooperative marketing funds rose. The Person Relevant Experience The role requires an experienced manager with wide-ranging experience of business development activities. The post- holder needs to demonstrate the ability to be self-sufficient and capable of managing a team and tasks. The post-holder must identify, develop and deliver on a wide range of activities that will increase aeronautical revenue for Gold Coast Airport Pty Ltd. In particular: A proven track record in a sales and marketing environment preferably within the airline / travel industry sector; Experience with pricing policy development and budgetary planning; A proven track record in managing people and teams Track record of fostering relationships and partnerships with other organisations in order to pool resources to achieve common market development goals. Qualifications University Degree or suitable tertiary qualification. Personal Attributes In-depth understanding of the aviation and travel industries and experience of working for / with an airport, airline, tour operator, travel wholesaler or tourism promotion organisation; The ability to assert a position with senior airline, tourism/travel industry and government executives through influence and persuasion; Strong negotiation skills; Strong analytical and numerical skills; Excellent computer skills; Strong presentation and communication skills; Ability to work autonomously and think strategically; and Team leader and team player.
