Section 5: Health Hazard Data

Primary Routes of Exposure: Inhalation, Skin and Eye Contact.

Inhalation : Inhalation of dust can cause headache, nausea, irritation and/or inflammation of the nose, throat or lungs.

Eye Contact : Direct contact with eyes can cause eye irritation and/ or alkali burns.

Skin Contact : Prolonged or repeated skin contact with wet material can cause skin irritation and/ or alkali burns.

First Aide Procedure :

Inhalation : Move subject to fresh air. Seek medical assistance

Eye Contact : Flush eyes with running water for a minimum of 15 minutes. Contact a physician if irritation persists.

Skin Contact : Wash affected area thoroughly with soap and water. Consult a physician if irritation persists.

Ingestion : If swallowed, give at least 2 glasses of water to drink, consult a physician.

Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Stability : Stable

Incompatibility : Hydrated lime is incompatible with acids, ammonia salts, and some organic compounds.

Protection.

Procedures : Handle as a nuisance dust. Use respiratory protection if dust becomes airborne.

Waste Disposal : Dispose of in accordance with applicable Federal, State and Local

Regulations . Keep spills and runoff out of municipal sewers and open bodies of water.

Section 8: Special Protection Information

Respiratory Protection : None required for normal use of this product. If the material is sanded or ground when dry, NIOSH/MSHA approved respiratory for dust should be used.

As with any safety product, workers using respirators need to be trained in the proper selection, use and care of such equipment.

Eye Protection : Use goggles or safety glasses approved for nuisance dust.

Hand Protection : Rubber or neoprene gloves will provide protection against wet material.

Other Protective Equipment : Local ventilation, if needed.
