National Philharmonic Concerto Competition

Competition: Sun. Oct. 5, 2014 evening
Performance: Nov. 18-21, 2013 in Strathmore
High School Student, all orchestral instruments (no piano)
One movement of a concerto or piece with orchestra. 10 min. max.

Asian American Music Society 2014 International Competition
Deadline: Oct. 4, 2014
Competition: Sat. Oct. 24, 2014 in Bethesda, MD
Winners Concert in November at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage.
Elementary, Middle School and High School Divisions.
Two contrasting pieces. Asian composers encouraged/not required. Anyone can enter.

The Symphonette at Landon School Competition for Young String
Performers

Five finalists will each perform their concerto with the Landon Symphonette at a concert on
March 15, 2014 at 5:00 pm.
Ages 13-18, students living in the Baltimore-Washington area
Required repertoire: (first mvt.) Bach Concerto No. 1 or 2 Concertos of Barber, Bruch,
Kabalevsky, Lalo, Mendelssohn, Mozart #3, 4, 5, Saint-Saens, Wieniawski, Sibelius

The Columbia Orchestra Young Artist’s Competition
Deadline: Likely early Dec.
Competition: Sat. January 10th noon-6:00 & Sun.
January 11th 1:30-6:00
Jr. Division: through 8th grade

*Students who live or study in Howard County
Repertoire: one movement of any standard concerto, a single-movement work, or one, two,
or three movements of not more than fifteen (15) minutes total performance from a suite,
divertimento, or concertino.
