LabCorp is a pioneer in applying advances in medicine and science to laboratory testing, with more than 35 years of experience in serving physicians and their patients. LabCorp operates a sophisticated laboratory network, with corporate headquarters in Burlington, NC, and more than 28,000 employees nationwide. Our 220,000 clients include physician offices, hospitals, managed care organizations, and biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. Monogram Biosciences, located in San Francisco, California, specializes in HIV resistance testing and personalized medicine. Litholink Corporation, in Chicago, Ill, is a premier testing laboratory focused on kidney stone prevention and the management of chronic kidney disease. Esoterix, Inc, and its Colorado Coagulation, Endocrine Sciences, and Cytometry Associates laboratories offer specialized disciplines of esoteric testing expertise. ViroMed Laboratories, Inc, (ViroMed), based in Minneapolis, Minn, offers molecular microbial testing using real-time PCR platforms and provides significant additional capacity to support advanced testing. Dynacare Laboratories, with locations in Washington, Tennessee, Wisconsin, and Canada, is part of LabCorp’s national network of industry-leading clinical laboratories. The National Genetics Institute (NGI) in Los Angeles, Calif, develops novel, highly sensitive PCR methods for testing for HIV, hepatitis, and other infectious agents. NGI is FDAapproved to screen plasma for infectious diseases. DIANON Systems, Inc, (DIANON), in Stratford, Conn, is a leader in providing full-service, outpatient anatomic pathology and clinical pathology services. DIANON’s pathologists specialize in specific organ systems and clinical disciplines of uropathology, dermatopathology, and gastrointestinal pathology. US LABS, based in Irvine, Calif, is a leading anatomic pathology and hematopathology laboratory providing a broad menu of esoteric oncology tests with expertise in advanced assays across multiple methodologies. 2 Putting our Best to the Test Local Laboratory Testing Facility All testing within the state of Colorado is directed to our primary testing facility in Englewood, Colorado. This state of the art lab facility performs 17,000 test daily and 95% of ordered tests are performed locally. Testing that is not performed in Englewood is sent to various “Centers of Excellence” throughout the US. See page 2 for a complete list of Centers of Excellence. Courier Services LabCorp has an extensive courier network of designated individuals who are specially trained to handle lab specimens with the utmost care. Courier services are available in all locations in the state. In rural Colorado, LabCorp may contract with well respected medical courier services to provide transportation of lab specimens to the Englewood facility. Supplies LabCorp supplies all items necessary for performing phlebotomy and processing a specimen to send to LabCorp. There is no charge for lab supplies. Supply orders can be faxed or emailed to the warehouse in Englewood. Turn-around time on supplies varies depending on the proximity to the Englewood facility. Account Management LabCorp employs account managers who cover the entire state of Colorado. Upon making the decision to utilize LabCorp for your lab services, an account representative will visit your clinic and conduct an on-site audit. The representative will discuss connectivity, billing, lab ordering, courier services, as well as any special needs your clinic may have. LabCorp also has a toll free Information Technology hotline for IT needs and issues that may arise. The account manager will be the first point of contact for concerns or questions about your account. For customer service questions, LabCorp also has a 24/7 customer service number available to all customers. Connectivity Solutions LabCorp’s connectivity options provide flexibility and range from easy-to-use, Web-based applications to sophisticated integrations. LabCorp has the flexibility to mix and match connectivity solutions to provide efficient and effective communications between LabCorp and the client’s office. 3 Putting our Best to the Test Web-based Solutions Beacon is a secure, Web-based solution for test ordering and result retrieval. With numerous management and tracking features, Beacon is designed to work seamlessly with existing office workflow. The test ordering capability allows orders to be entered electronically in the provider’s office, saving resources and streamlining the order entry process. Electronic result reports are easy to read and accessible from anywhere a high-speed Internet connection and standard Web browser are available. Beacon integrates with many practice management systems (PMS) for easy retrieval of patient demographics, eliminating the need for reentry of information. See the attached list of EDI vendors who work closely with LabCorp. Billing and Insurance LabCorp has negotiated contracts with many insurance companies in Colorado. We have agreements with UHC, Anthem of Colorado, CIGNA, Great West, Humana, Medicare, Colorado Medicaid and many other insurance plans. See below for a complete listing. LabCorp will also bill clients directly for the testing we perform in our laboratory. Invoices are generated every 30 days and payment is expected upon receipt. CCHN has negotiated extremely competitive pricing with LabCorp to benefit their members and ultimately the patient. See below for a list of prices on the top 100 tests ordered by CCHN clinics. Quality At LabCorp, quality is always our primary goal. Quality control programs developed by LabCorp meet or surpass requirements set by the federal government and other licensing agencies. Using a variety of internal quality control program and more than 20 external programs, results from every laboratory department are closely monitored. In addition, LabCorp is inspected regularly by state, federal, and private accrediting groups. LabCorp has national systems and procedures in place to emphasize and monitor quality assurance. A National Task Force on Quality working with Laboratory National Standards and QA group reviews and audits laboratory adherence to standardization and quality guidelines. In addition to on-site evaluations at all regional LabCorp facilities, CAP and state surveys are monitored along with LabCorp's own blind proficiency results. LabCorp and CCHN LabCorp and CCHN have been strategic partners since 2004, renewing a 3 year agreement most recently in 2009. CCHN and LabCorp hold quarterly conference calls to discuss topics of interest to the membership, including continuing education topics for providers and office staff.
