Objective
The purpose of this assignment is to examine the importance of ethics in research.
Assignment

 Use the corresponding handout as a study guide.
 Answer the questions that accompany the following case studies and provide a rationale where
applicable. Turn in to turnitin.com and bring a hardcopy to class.

 This assignment highlights the evolution and importance of ethics in research. It may help to inform the design of your
own research proposal. This assignment also provides you with an opportunity to exercise concepts covered in Creasey
Ch. 2 and class.

 I would first read Creasey Chapter 2. I would then skim the handout to preview what I was looking for. I would
complete the assignment focusing on the concepts that are on the handout and/or covered in the text.

 Research has a potential of causing harm to human participants, and sound standards of ethics must always be observed.
Knowledge of sound ethical standards will allow you to propose and conduct ethical research as well as evaluate the
degree of compliance in others’ research.
