The "Jersey Fresh Availability & Forecast Report" aims to give consumers some sense of what Jersey Fresh produce is likely to be available in the near future. Please be forewarned though that radical weather changes will have an influence on the ripening of produce and harvest date of availability. Volume picking up each week. Harvesting a fair to good quantity of good quality product. With warming weather, and increasing soil temperatures, the harvest is ramping up. Harvest starting later this week due to cool weather which prevented early planting. Harvesting a fair to good quantity of good quality Spring planted product. Variable quality over-wintered bunched harvesting in light to fair volume. Spring planted should be available by end of May. Harvesting good quality in fair quantity. Volume picking up each week. Variable quality over-wintered product harvesting in light volume as good quality Spring planted product starts to become available. A light, & less than normal, volume of variable quality over-wintered product is harvesting. Starting to harvest good quality Boston in light and increasing volume. Red & Green Leaf will follow next week, followed by Romaine around the end of May. Good quality starting in light quantity. Volume should increase each week. Harvesting variable quality over-wintered curly and plain product in light, & much less than normal, volume. Should be another couple of weeks for Spring planted product. JERSEY FRESH FORECAST BEETS CABBAGE COLLARDS ESCAROLE & ENDIVE STRAWBERRIES TURNIPS Harvest should begin in late May. Won’t be ready until late May or early June. Early harvests of Chandler variety berries are expected to begin next week, while the bulk of the crop will be harvested towards early June, with lower volumes to continue through mid-June.
