Prayers and Intentions
There is great joy in praying together. We come closer to God and each other when we pour out our
hearts before the Lord. Each morning, together with Mr. Fortosky or Mr. Doepker, one or two
students from a classroom share a morning prayer with all staff and students through our intercom.
Below is one of the many prayers we share together; known as the “Our Father” or “Lord’s Prayer”.
Our Father, who art in Heaven; Hallowed by thy name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on
earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses as we
forgive those who trespass against us; And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Dear Parents - Greater Saskatoon Catholic School Division believes communication between home and school is
critical for the success of your child. Technology is a vehicle which allows easy access to information relevant to your
child’s school experience. Examples have been the introduction of electronic school newsletters and the use of social
media, such as Facebook and Twitter to share division or school events. The next step in our plan is to create parent
accounts which, in time, will be the doorway for accessing your child’s grades, attendance records and an online Three
Way Conference sign up program.
On October 4, 2015 you will receive an email with a username and password which will provide you access to your
parent account. One username and password combination will be issued per household, so spouses will share these
credentials. Parents will receive separate logins if they are living at different residences with different primary phone
numbers. Parents without legal access to their children will not receive login information. Lastly, if you have not
registered an email with the school we encourage you to do so. Parents without emails in our system will receive
information in the traditional manner.
Please note: This fall the online Three Way Conference sign up program is for high school students only. Please
contact your school principal for more information.

Knights of Columbus Christmas – Piano Player Wanted!
The St. Mark School Choir is excited to announce our plans are underway for our Knights of
Columbus Carol Festival with the theme “A World of Christmas”. We are hoping to involve
our school community in some of our planning. First, we are looking for a parent/guardian
who would like to play piano for our Festival. This person would have to be available at
noon approximately one or two days per week until the Festival is over in December. If you
would like to volunteer for this activity, please call the school office at 306-659-7390.
Merit Awards for Grades 6, 7, and 8 Students - Students who would like to apply for an award need to complete an
application on the last 2 days of the month. The applications must be signed by a staff member and a peer. Students
must: 1) Be working to the best of their ability; completing all assignments on time and making good use of class time.
2) Show respect for their school, community and self. 3) Be responsible for their own academics, attendance and
attitude. Students applying for a Merit Award can look forward to earning prizes and special privileges. Earn 4 or more
Merit Awards this year and be part of the special year end celebration. See Mrs. Fisher for applications.
Buddy Bench At St. Mark School Park – What is a Buddy Bench? The Buddy Bench is a simple idea
to eliminate loneliness and foster friendship on the playground. Let’s spread the message of inclusion
and kindness! Students on the playground who are feeling alone are encouraged to have a seat at the
Buddy Bench where they are quickly matched with friends by others on the playground or by staff.
At St. Mark School, “hands are for helping” and “we use kind words”! And we sure have the best students and staff!
Collective Kitchens – Once again St. Mark School will be hosting “Collective Kitchens”. This program enables
parents/caregivers to meet once a week and cook meals together and take them home for their families. There is an
information meeting at St. Mark School on Tuesday, October 6th at 12:30 in the kitchen and the first actual food prep begins
on October 13th. If you are interested or if you require further information, please call Chantalle at 306-280-4212 before
October 6th. See you there!

Parking Thank you to all who are using street parking when dropping off your children. To ensure the
safety of your children, please talk to them about using the safety patrols and the “crosswalk only” when
you drop them off at school. Remember that the parking lot is extremely hazardous and students should not
enter it for any reason. Our parking lot is over capacity for staff use. We have staff members that have to
use street parking. Please note that on occasion there will be parking attendants ticketing non-staff vehicles.

Self-esteem is the real magic wand that can form a child’s future. A child’s self-esteem affects every area of her existence,
from friends she chooses, to how well she does academically in school, to what kind of job she gets, to even the person she
chooses to marry.
