PROVINCE OF ANCONA PROJECTS CO-FUNDED BY THE EUROPEAN UNION GOES – Good on Emergency Situation (070401/2010/579105/SUB/C4) Programme Preparedness & Prevention under the Civil Protection Financial Instrument (Call 2010) – DG Environment and Civil Protection General Objective The authorities involved in the GOES project agree that an inadequate response to emergency situations is often the result of disorganization, delays or deficiencies in communication between local actors involved in various capacities in prevention and emergency management. Consequently it’s necessary to begin a common path in order to avoid similar situations in future. Specific Objectives The project GOES which aims to create a network that collects daily all relevant information on road conditions related to any criticisms and suggestions on alternative routes. The network will convey this information to the regional civil protection structures and to the main network in order to promptly inform citizens. The system for collecting and transmitting data should be based on standardized and automated procedures to exchange across the partner territories. Once this connection has been created it may also be used to convey other information coming from the whole territory, not only from the roads. More than 300 companies will be informed about Directive 2005/32/EC on eco-design requirements for energy-using products, practices in carbon footprint and environmental 1 management systems in the nautical industry. Thus, the project aims to reduce polluting elements and facilitate the application of Best Available Techniques (BAT) for the minimisation – by quantity and toxic risk – of final controlled waste products and the maximisation of energy savings. Furthermore, a prototype ‘eco-boat’ will be produced using BAT that is respectful of the environment and easily accessible by disabled people. Expected results • Raised awareness on eco-design and environmental compliance through the organisation of workshops and training for at least 300 companies in the naval sector; • Adoption of a collaboration protocol to integrate and increase environmental compliance among SMEs. The protocol will mainly focus on the problem of chemical pollution in naval shipyards, recycling production waste materials, and equal access to shipyards for older workers and the disabled; and • Preparation of a protocol for eco-design in the naval sector. This protocol will be drawn up on the basis of the experiments carried out to develop BATs for the production of eco-boats.
