(attached PPT) Invite students to extend list of historical figures who have exemplified good citizenship. Share read selection, then complete 3column chart. Name What did he or she do? Why is he or she considered a good citizen? Divide students into 5 groups. Assign each group to one of the individuals listed above. Students read selection and record information on 3-column chart. Groups share charts with class. Create a class chart on butcher paper with information on all individuals listed above. Independent Practice: (Sinker) (Day 3) Create a Citizenship Wall of Fame: Students select one of the individuals listed above and create a plaque (lined paper glued on construction paper). Rubric for plaque: Full name Traits of good citizenship possessed Explain how those traits are demonstrated Accomplishments Positive impact on community *Alternative to plaque: Have students orally present this information to class (same rubric guidelines).
