Joan Ware has been active in chronic disease prevention and health promotion for over
28 years. Retired in 2005 from the Utah Department of Health, she served as Director of
the Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Program. Currently, she is consultant to the
National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD) Women’s Health Council,
partnering with chronic disease directors, CDC’s Divisions of Reproductive Health and
Diabetes Translation, and state MCH, PRAMS and Diabetes Prevention and Control
Program Directors, and the AMCHP/CityLights Partnership to promote collaboration and
integration of public health services and programs.
She earned a BA in English, a BSN in nursing and a MSPH from the University of Utah.
