Taught Kindergarten through 8 th
grade science, and managed two science labs and all grade’s lab materials. Managed and after school science club for grades 5-8 and managed the whole school Mighty Acorns partnership with the Field Museum. Managed the all school Science Fair for grades 3rd-8 th
. I also managed an after school art club that designed and built the set for our all school musical “The Lion King”.

Instructor, Body Casting
School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC)
Taught SAIC students the fundamentals of body casting. The course consisted of a materials approach where different media for casting from the body were introduced, examples of which are alginate, flex wax and plaster impregnated bandages. Students were also introduced to problem solving techniques related to specifically to removing casts from the body but that were also generally applicable to all around model and mold development. Examples of which are dam construction on organic forms and proper selection of mold material in relation to final end product
Teaching Assistant, First Year Program

Engaged First Year Students in their initial experience in producing conceptually based art and the development of various critical thinking tools to aid them throughout their art making careers. Projects ranged from the construction of Derives, based on notions of psychogeography, conceptual mapping related to the space they inhabit within the city of Chicago and collaborative installations relating to their cartographic
experiences. Students were also required to design and construct socially conscious garments, meaning that the garments were informed through their potential affect from wearing them in our society. Students were also introduced to many new forms of construction in wood, metal, cloth, and other various materials and in this process they were introduced to a full-scale production woodshop and all of the equipment inherent in that environment, such as the table saw. Lastly, the students were required to participate in group and individual critiques, which for many, was a new experience.
Teaching Assistant, Non-traditional Approaches to Clay

Engaged students in unorthodox methods of working in ceramic materials, processes involved were, performance using deflocculated slip, onsite construction of adobe kiln/structures, use of biological organisms (ants) in the production of a video installation and ceramic objects, alternative firing techniques and the use of glaze as the final product and not as surface treatment.

Taught advanced ceramics students methods of sculpture construction using ceramic materials, introduced gas and electric kiln firing techniques with development towards independent firing. Introduced methods of developing personalized clay bodies and glazed surfaces, provided guidance in the construction of portfolios and application packets towards entrance into graduate programs in ceramics and sculpture. Lastly, I engaged students one on one in a critique format to strengthen their abilities to talk about their own work.

Indiana University
Introduced students to the fundamentals of wood construction using both power equipment and hand tools along with connection methods involving both chemical and mechanical techniques. The focus of the section of this course was to not just provide experience in wood construction but also to present problem solving methods useful to wood construction in an art making format and involved non-traditional approaches.

Students on this trip could take the course for credit in art history, liberal arts or studio and so my role was multifaceted and revolved less around sheer academics and was oriented more towards a source of guidance in navigating a foreign country and
culture. In short I was generally a source for students to turn to for problems ranging from how to get around, where things are and how to get things done but. My other prime task was to aid students in the generation of ideas on what to write their papers on or to make their projects about and then to help them discern the best avenue for doing research on that topic while in Florence.

Worked with students to develop site investigation and research techniques, with a specific emphasis on redefining typology and notions of form to action. The course also introduced students to the Instructional shops and guided the use of such facilities, introduced students to various forms of body casting and model production techniques, developed students abilities to design and implement a feasible route of exploration to the end that something real can be produced. Introduced students tot the use of the 3-D micro-scribe for the input of real-life data into Rhinoceros 3-D drawing program and in the basic use of said program.

2007 Art Fabrication Project Manager – Skyline Design
-Managed custom art fabrication jobs from estimation through design, fabrication , installation and budgeting, worked for clients such as Children’s Memorial Hospital, W
Hotel and Duke University. Managed and contracted outside vendors, managed in house build teams and time lines for job completion, managed on-site installation teams for signage and architectural objects installation. Managed the design and fabrication of a line of environmentally friendly children’s furniture called “GreenPlay”. Main functions
– design for fabrication, process engineering, materials selection and research, packaging and shipping logistics, fabrication time lines and product estimation and pricing. I also worked heavily in client relations in both areas of art and furniture fabrication to ensure proper customer support.
2005 Redmoon Theatre’s Build Shop Manager and Internship Program Director
- Maintained all of the theatre’s resources and facilities, including a 12,000-foot performance/rehearsal space. Recruited interns every twelve weeks or as needed and managed the intern team in undertaking artistic and creative projects in accordance with the theatre’s needs and goals. Undertook special projects for the theatre, such as the design and build of unique, show specific objects that ranged from mechanical devices to static set pieces. My role as the build shop manager and intern director requires me to be intimately involved in the theatre’s long-term production and facilities.
2004 Construction and assemblage of SAIC Instructional Wood Shop – assembled and planned the placement of all power equipment and built the necessary furniture and fixtures for housing the equipment
2003-2005 Ceramics Studio Shop Technician – equipment maintenance of throwing wheels, electric and gas kilns, and clay mixing/handling equipment. Organized the storage, inventory and distribution of ceramic materials; maintained shop glazes and slip materials. Lastly, instituted shop upgrades requiring light construction.
