This training is important for providers who are interested in receiving certification for juvenile Sex Offender Treatment Programs, as well as staff who currently serve Juvenile Sex Offenders and Youth with Sexually Abusive Behaviors. The training will highlight some of the key issues involving treatment interventions for sexually abusive youth, will provide an overview of critical treatment components for this population, and identify the goals of treatment and the underlying frameworks and modalities used to achieve these goals. In the afternoon, participants will learn about the Adam Walsh Act; particularly its provisions regarding classification of juvenile offenders. Target Audience: Staff from public and private agencies and organizations whom are interested in receiving certification by the State of Ohio for juvenile sex offender treatment programs. Presenter: Linda Gable, Ohio Department of Youth Services Ms. Gable has been employed by the Ohio Department of Youth Services for over 30 years. She spent 13 years as a Parole Officer for Lucas County, the last few years carrying a specialized caseload of juvenile sex offenders on parole. Ms. Gable served as ODYS representative for 18 Northwestern Ohio Cluster County Boards. Ms. Gable was a member of the Lucas County Sex Offender Task Force for 2 ½ years. Ms. Gable holds a Bachelors degree from Bowling Green State University in Public Communications (with a minor in Social Work Administration). Ms. Gable also holds a Masters degree from Tiffin University in Forensic Psychology. Ms. Gable is a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor. Ms. Gable is also a trainer of the Juvenile Sex Offender Protocol-II assessment tool and provides assessments and reassessments of juveniles within the ODYS system and provides ongoing sex offender training to newly hired ODYS staff and as annual in –service to the staff at Circleville Juvenile Correctional Facility. Ms. Gable is a member of NAPN (National Adolescent Perpetrators Network).
