ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF EMPLOYEES OF S3 SUB-DIVISION:Assistant Executive Engineer (Sub-Division)
a) Sanctioning of service connections as per powers vested with him.
b) Approving works mainly in the nature of maintenance works as per power vested with him.
c) Maintenance of lines, cables and equipments to ensure smooth and quality power supply to the
consumers.
d) Attending/Monitoring of consumer complaints regarding power supply in terms of its quality, interruption
and other technical matters and billing related problems.
e) Proposition of Augmentation works to cater to the needs of public.
f) Monitoring of works.
g) Raising bills in respect of all the consumers in the jurisdictional area.
h) Collection of bills from consumers as per the terms and conditions of Supply.
i) Maintenance of Consumers Accounts in the prescribed manner.
j) Preparation and submission of various statistical information to the higher offices.
k) Integration of men, material and special labor in execution of certain works which required special skills
viz RMU, MT and cable faults.
l) Action for prevention of theft of power.
m) Initiating criminal actions against the consumers involved in theft of power.
n) Conducting of CIM at regular intervals as per policy of the company.
o) Maintaining the Distribution & AT&C loss of the Sub Division within the
norms by taking actions to avoid commercial loss, theft, system
improvements, changing mechanical meters by Electronic meters, etc.,
p) Allocation of duties & responsibilities of the staff working under him &
to arrange men & materials for the works approved.
q) Any other works as allotted by superior officer.
Assistant Engineer (Technical)

a) Processing of service connections as per powers vested with him.
b) Processing works mainly in the nature of maintenance works as per power vested with him.
c) Preparation and submission of various statistical information to the higher offices.
d) Preparation of estimates, scrutiny & sanction.
e) Processing of Tenders to get men & materials.
f) Any other works as allotted by superior officer.
Assistant Engineer (O&M)
1. Receiving applications of power supply from prospective consumers.
2. Preparation of estimate to assess the expenditure involved and to obtain sanction for incurring the
expenditure for releasing connections.
3. Examination of the feasibility of Power supply from the existing infrastructure.
4. Forwarding the application of the prospective consumer with their comments on feasibility and estimate
to the sanctioning authority.
5. Releasing service connection duly following the prescribed procedure on receipt of power sanction from
competent authorities.
6. Maintenance of lines, cables and equipments to ensure smooth and quality power supply to the
consumers.
7. Attending to consumer complaints regarding power supply in terms of its quality, and other technical
matters.
8. Maintaining the Distribution & AT&C loss of the Sub Division within the
norms by taking actions to avoid commercial loss, theft, system
improvements, changing mechanical meters by Electronic meters, etc.,
9. Allocation of duties & responsibilities of the staff working under him &
to arrange men & materials for the works approved.
10. Any other works as allotted by superior officer.
11. Revenue collection duly after disconnections.
Junior Engineer (O&M)
1 General Supervision of the Section.
2 Ensuing proper and effective performance of errection, operation and maintenance works.
3 Arranging for service connections, spot inspections and preparation of estimates.
4 Procurement of materials, tools and plant equipments for the works.
5 Supervision of works, inspection of lines, Transformer centers, installations, Street Lights.
6 Arranging disconnections, and reconnections.
7 Arranging for prompt compliance of the fuse-off calls, consumer complaints etc.,
8 Surprise checks of installations, test check of meter readings.
9 Carrying out pre-monsoon inspections of lines, attending to maintenance, breakdown works and repair
works.
10 Duties connected with administrative, establishment, Cash and Revenue, Overall Supervision and
maintenance of the Section under his Charge and such other duties entrusted by his superiors.
11 Maintaining diary and records of the works inspections.
12 Attending to Test checks and instructions of the inspecting officers etc.,
13 Attending complaints registered on previous day.
14 Allocation of work among Meter readers.
15 Attending Revenue collection of huge arrears.
16 Attending disconnection lists issued from Revenue section.
17 Attending line maintenance works.
18 Attending Tree cutting / trimming works during pre-monsoon period,

Junior Engineer (Service Stations)
1 Attending consumer complaints & Maintenance of Uninterrupted Power supply.
2 Arranging for prompt compliance of the fuse-off calls, consumer complaints etc.,
3 Carrying out pre-monsoon inspections of lines, attending to maintenance, breakdown works and repair
works.
4 Attending complaints registered on previous day.
5 Attending Tree cutting / trimming works during pre-monsoon period,
6 Maintenance of attendance of employees working under him
7 Any other works as allotted by superior officer.
Meter Reader
1 Visiting Sub-Division office for collecting MRI
2 Giving attendance to JEE
3 Taking Meter Readings of TC and connected all Installations and billing at spot of energy consumption
including delivering the bills at spot.
4 Maintenance of Meter reading books and other incidental works thereto including associated clerical
work.
5 Verification of accuracy of meters, miss-use of energy, meters sticky. Meter seals, and General
condition of the installation during routine Meter reading.
6 Any other works as allotted by superior officer.
7 Recording installations found in field but not loaded to MRI.
8 Recording installations of DC/MNR/Continuous door lock from 3-4 months.
9 Cross checking of reading taken for energy audit.
10 Segregation of RR nos. where loads are bi-furcated on installation of additional TC.
11 Collection of cheques / DD.s on reading of installations.
12 Encouraging consumers to pay their bills by using the services of ECS.
13 Observing abnormal / sub-normal consumptions.
14 Make note in the diary and record in a register regarding defects, deficiencies and unauthorized
connections and reconnections.
15 Preparation of statement of installations locality-wise and rearranging as per reading date-wise.
16 Arranging disconnections through the Lineman wherever instructions are issued while taking readings.
17 Reporting the Section officer regarding any abnormalities in the readings, change in the nature of
installation, not recording of meters, suspected pilferage of energy etc., noticed during the course of the
meter readings.
18 Assisting the O&M Section officer in the office works when situation demands.
19 Recording installations of DC/MNR/Continuous door lock from 3-4 months.
20 Cross checking of reading taken for energy audit.
21 Segregation of RR nos. where loads are bi-furcated on installation of additional TC.
22 Ensuring 100 % billing efficiency.

1 Attend to office work such as writing estimates, completion reports, indents and return invoices.

3 Preparation of attendance extracts, T.A. Bills of the staff, conveyance certificates.
4 Intimations to consumers and contractors.
5 Maintenance of registers such as fuse off call, works register and Assets register, R&R Meters,
Disconnections and reconnections, T&P material accounts etc.,
6 Maintaining inward and outward registers, filing of papers etc.,
7 Receiving and recording consumer complaints, fuse off calls etc.,and to arrange for their compliance.
8 Receiving and transmitting the telephone messages.
9 Taking meter readings and attending to breakdown works when situation demands.
10 Attend to shift duties such as recording consumer complaints, fuse off calls and arrange for their
compliance in service stations.
11 Assisting the other staff in the performance of various duties in the concerned type of work in
distribution O&M sections and service stations.

12 Collecting cash from the consumers at the Head Quarters of the Section office by issuing authorized
receipts of the Board.
13 Inventory of distribution sketch and taking of TP reading for renewal.
14 Accompanying AE for all maintenance work.

16 Copying R&R reports and send the same to Revenue section.
17 Assisting AE and office staff for preparation of technical matters.

Senior Mechanic
1 Attend to Errection, operation and maintenance works of Distribution lines.
2 Carrying out line inspections, Transformer center inspections.
3 Attending to testing, fault location and rectification on Transmission lines, U.G. cable circuits and
connected equipments, distribution lines and Transformer centers, change over supply etc.,

Line Mechanic Grade-1
1 Attend to Errection, operation and maintenance works of Distribution lines.
2 Carrying out line inspections, Transformer center inspections.
3 Attending to testing, fault location and rectification on Transmission lines, U.G. cable circuits and
connected equipments, distribution lines and Transformer centers, change over supply etc.,
4 Guiding and supervising the works of the employees of lower category.
5 Maintaining works diary and reporting.
6 Assisting the other staff in the performance of various duties in the concerned type of work and
ensuring effective performance.
7 Any other works as allotted by superior officer.
Line Mechanic Grade-2
1 Attend to Errection, operation and maintenance works of HT and LT lines, Transformer centres and
equipments.
2 Carrying out inspections Transmission and distribution lines.
3 Checking oil level and condition in transformers and circuit breakers.
4 Checking GOS, AB switches, LT switches, change over switches, earth connections, LT UG cable
connections.
5 Conducting pre-monsoon inspection of lines.
6 Ensuring effective performance of the lower staff by guiding and co-ordinating in their routine jobs.
7 Ensuring safety and promptness.
8 Attending to breakdowns, rectification of faults with the help of other staff.
9 Assisting in the performance of various duties in the concerned type of work.
10 Attending to line inspections and patrolling of EHT lines, fault location and rectification thereof.
11 Arranging proper tools and equipment for the works.
12 Maintaining diary and sending reports relating to the works and inspection.
13 Any other works as allotted by superior officer.
Lineman
1 Maintaining diary and records of work when in-charge of camp duties and reporting after carrying out
the works.

7 Replacement of faulty equipments, meters, fixtures, switches, streetlight fixtures and accessories.
8 Attend to ON and OFF of Street lights and maintenance of street lights.
9 Attending Tree cutting / trimming work.
10 Replacement of Broken Poles.
11 Extension work of HT and LT lines.
12 Transformers centre inspections, Transformers grounding, fault in bushing and neutral floating
problem. and maintenance work like checking oil level, replacing silicajel, numbering of poles and other
related works incidental thereto.
13 Assisting the other staff in the performance of various duties relating to the works in distribution
sections.
14 Any other works as allotted by superior officer.
Assistant Lineman
1 Excavation work for pole errection or cable trench.
2 Lifting of poles and fixtures, lifting or carrying medium weight line materials, Tools and plant.
3 Attend to patrolling of lines, service connection works, switch ON and OFF street lights.
4 Replacing street lamps, climbing pole/tower for line works and painting works.
5 Assisting Lineman/Line Mechanic for line inspection and maintenance works of the lines.
6 Attend to fuse off calls and rectification of faults on lines on the direction of the concerned authority.
7 Assisting the other staff in the performance of various duties relating to the works in distribution
sections.
8 Maintaining diary and records of work when in-charge of camp duties and reporting after carrying out
the works.
9 Attend to disconnections, reconnections and other service connection works.
10 Any other works as allotted by superior officer.
Junior Lineman
1 Lifting of poles and fixtures, lifting or carrying medium weight line materials, Tools and plant.
2 Attending disconnection list.
3 Replacement of Broken Poles.
4 Attending Tree cutting / trimming work.
5 TC maintenance work including TC wiring, TC grounding etc.,
6 Attending / assisting JEE in maintenance and other emergency works.
7 Attending fuse of calls and other complaints.
8 Maintenance of meters, Arial fuse boards, spacers etc.
9 Collection of materials from stores.
10 Attend to patrolling of lines, service connection works, switch ON and OFF street lights.

Sweeper / Scavenger
1 Sweeping the premises in the assigned area.
2 Collect garbage and dispose off.
3 Cleaning of gutters, septic tanks, latrines and bath rooms.
4 Removing shrubs in the colony and such other cleaning work assigned.
5 Swabbing floors, cleaning pannels of doors, windows, tables, chairs etc.,

Senior Assistant Revenue
1) Supervising the revenue related activities as directed by AAO/AEE.
2) Furnishing of information’s, Data’s to AAO/AEE for validation and onwards submission to higher
offices.
3) Attending inspection reports of MT Vigilance, Audit & O&M staffs by ensuring Demand & Collection of
BBC.
4) Initiating termination of agreements & follow up action as per recovery dues act.
5) Generation of Exceptional Reports and sending to the field officers for review /remedial action.
6) Preparation of withdrawal statements as per appeal orders, Erroneous billing Etc.
7) Monitoring and review of Test Reports opened in respect of Newly Serviced Installations.
8) Attending to consumers in respect of disputed cases.
9) Attending Court/Revenue Appeal Cases.

Assistant
1) Responsible for compilation of accounts of the division.
2) Preparation of monthly Trial balance.
3) Preparation & Submission of year end accounts in co ordination with stock , Pricing , DCB, schedules,
Bank reconciliation, C Registers, Bill passing case workers.
4) Maintenance of Assets register with upto date entries.
5) Maintenance of C register with upto date entries of Issues & Receipts.

6) Monitoring of submission of CR’s from field staff to close the work accounts for categorization of CWIP
to assets accounts.
7) Maintenance of various Debit / Credit Schedules with upto date entries.

9) Maintaining stock accounts with upto date posting of receipts & Issues received from pricing section &
submission of stock JV to compiler of accounts of the Division
10) Maintenance of Revenue correspondence, registers, files,etc., under safe custody.
11) Maintenance of Ledgers.
12) Maintaining Inventory of stationary , T&P materials in good conditions, scraping of materials as per
recommendation of counting officer.

Junior Assistant
1) Records, files, registers, books of references handled by each are to be maintained properly and
preserved safely in a well arranged pattern in the container, such as racks, Almirahs, etc. so as to be
easily traceable and accessible & dispatch work of Tappal.
2) Responsible for Store price ledger work
3) Inward/Outward of letters, bills etc.,
4) Maintenance of records, stationery and contingent article accounts.
