Personal statement
I am aiming to get residency to live and work in Australia, so you can be assured I am looking for a long term
commitment in a great working environment. I am qualified and able to get the skilled independent visa.
I am a secondary school teacher of Modern Foreign Languages by profession with three years experience teaching
students of eleven to eighteen years in a secondary school environment. I have also been a tutor of German,
Spanish and English for much longer, and have taught English as a foreign language for a year in Japan.
Having grown up in Spain up to the age of six and having a German parent, I have considerable understanding and
direct experience in the languages and cultures that I teach. I have worked and have great insight and understanding of
both countries also.
In support of my early career and achievements I am able to supply references from Head of Departments and
Principals of high caliber high schools in England.

them to be able to conduct basic conversation in German.

I am working in a temporary role as a sales assistant for a specialist lingerie shop. IT is a customer
services related role, where I deal with usual sales, and customer complaints, telephone inquiries and
call shops regarding stock movement and management. This role is also an advisory one for many
customers seeking the correct sizing for their body shapes.

I took a temporary post teaching in an excellent co-ed academy of 11-18 year old students as a
German and Spanish Teacher, prior to my move to Australia.
I had a full time table of teaching German to year 7 and Spanish to year 8 and 9, as well as,
responsibility of a GCSE exam group (year 10), and continued with controlled assessment pieces in
preparation for their exams. I also taught a French GCSE (year 11) and Religious Studies GCSE (year
11) groups for several weeks before their exam study leave began.

Thomas Mills High School is an excellent co-ed high school of 11-18 year olds and an arts, languages
and science status school. When I was there it was top of the league tables in Suffolk for GCSE
results, and had recognized high language achievement nationwide.
I was invited within my first year at the school to become the acting Head of Spanish. I accepted and
wrote the Spanish schemes of work and made the resources. I was wholly responsible for the running
of the department and the school was extremely pleased with my results.
In my first year I learnt the importance of assessment, differentiated learning, coursework assessment
and exam practice, and more, as well as achieving great results.
I was a form tutor, with all the usual pastoral responsibilities. I took my form to Holland on a very
enjoyable year 7 trip.
I ran language clubs, for exam practice and a Japanese Appreciation Society on special school
occasions (activity days) and I took opportunities to go to our feeder primary schools in the area and
taught Japanese there, at a basic level, as part of a community service.
