Selection into the Co-operative Education mode of Computer Systems Technology and

CTY students are strongly encouraged to apply in their second semester . Although there is an option to apply in third and fourth semester you will not be allowed to apply in later semesters . Students must have a minimum of 10 courses left to complete when first applying to co-op. LUX students may only apply in their first semester.
Students must attend a co-op information session before applying. These sessions are usually held the week following study week every semester. Check the computer studies homepage for days and times.
Completed application and transfer form will be submitted to Elizabeth Piergeti at the completion of the information session.
CTY students must successfully complete all first and second semester courses in the semester they apply for co-op as stated in the most current full time course calendar. LUX students must successfully complete their first semester courses .
Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
in the semester in which they apply and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 overall if taking five courses or more. If only taking four courses, students must have a GPA of 3.2
. Your must pass every course completed in the semester you apply.
You will not be considered if you’re taking less than four courses.
Students will be required to take part in an English communication assessment . This includes, an oral interview, submission of a current resume and a review of their EAC150 mark. The student will need to achieve an overall mark of 70% or better in this assessment.
The assessment, along with the student’s academic marks, will be taken into consideration by the Promotion Committee.
Final decision regarding acceptance into the program is made at the Promotion Committee meeting after exam week.
To remain eligible for Co-op:
Students need to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 for each remaining semester (if taking five or more courses) and 3.2 (if taking four courses) until graduation. Taking less than four courses will result in your removal from the co-op program. (This applies to CTYC students only)
Students must successfully complete the CPP100 (co-op professional practice pre-work term) course.
If you take any part time courses during your co-op work term, you must achieve a 3.2 GPA to remain eligible. Earning less than 3.2 will result in removal from the co-op program. (This applies to CTYC students only)
If you are removed from the co-op program, you must complete an academic semester with a minimum of four courses while achieving a 3.2 GPA (or 3.0 GPA with five courses) before being reinstated into co-op. You will then gain access to the job listings in the subsequent semester providing you meet all other eligibility requirements. (This applies to CTYC students only)
To graduate with a Co-operative Education designation:
Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
Students must successfully complete the CPP100 course.
Students must successfully complete the CPP200 (co-op professional practice post-work term) course and other assignments associated with multiple work terms. (This applies to
CTYC students only)
