-Student will be introduced and become familiar with Business English in formal and informal context.

-Student will be tested on ability to distinguish verbs between present perfect and present continuous tenses.

-Student will build on business English vocabulary

Using present tense verbs commonly used in business in their correct tenses, identifying formal and informal phrases & actions and expanding on

Business English vocabulary.

The purpose of this lesson is to have the student expand their current vocabulary of business English by completing a number of activities using verbs in their present perfect and present continuous state

Overall objective of lesson is to get student to distinguish between formal and informal sentences, build on their vocabulary of business English and also a revision of business related verbs in their present type tenses. .

Student will be tested with a number of different reading, writing and listening activities. Student will rate sentences in order from least to most formal. The sentences relate to different activities in the office. Student will also be tested on her ability to listen and distinguish between formal and informal phrases used in a video clip.

Student is of an advanced level and will be familiar with verb usage in their present tense but may not remember difference between present perfect and continuous tenses. Student is currently at University so will have some general knowledge of formal business English but may not be experienced in applying it.

Vocabulary matching cards, youtube clip, verb worksheet, whiteboard

Student’s responses and ability to pronounce words from teacher questions will give an indication of understanding. The written activities and ability to place verbs in their correct context.

-Introduction and warmer were good. Although try to get her speaking more.

-Be sure to review activities throughly first. Some answers to activities caught me off gaurd.

-Be more certain with instructions before giving activitiy

-Instead of written activity have cut outs that she can put into two groups and do activity with her.

-Be consistent with word usage. Formal / informal as opposed to causual.

-Give overview of all definitions first i.e. what makes something formal / informal.

-Confused some present simple and present perfect. Be sur to revise this.
