INFORMATION & RULES The general rules and regulations for the governance and conduct of the Waikato A&P Show shall be the same as the RAS rules and regulations revised in 1992 and circulated to all A&P Associations. It shall be deemed acceptable as if they had been reprinted in full in this schedule. A copy of these rules is available for perusal at the Secretary's office. ENTRIES CLOSE: 26th September 2014. Breed Classes $10, All Breeds $12 per class unless otherwise stated. Please ensure you add up all your fees correctly and send the correct payment with your entry form to the Secretary. CONFIRMATION OF ENTRIES: Confirmation of entries will be sent to each exhibitor once the entry has been received by the Secretary. If you have not received your confirmation within 12 working days after posting it please call the office immediately. CATALOGUES: These are COMPULSORY so please ensure you add the $5.00 fee with your entries. Catalogues can be picked up from your Head Steward on the day of showing. TICKETS: These will be posted to you prior to the show. PUBLICATION OF EXHIBITOR'S NAME: Entry in the Show entitles the Association to publish an Exhibitors name in result reports and distribute with Exhibitor lists. PRIZE MONEY: Breeds 1st $15, 2nd $12, 3rd $8. All Breeds 1st $50, 2nd $30, 3rd $20, 4th $10.Unless otherwise stated. The Committee reserve the right to replace prizemoney with prizes. Prize money will be paid by direct banking within one month i.e. 3/12/2014. Please attach your pay in slip to entry form. If you have not received your prize money by this date please notify the office immediately. Notification must be made no later than the 13/12/2014. Notification after this date will not be considered. If promised sponsorship is not forthcoming the Association cannot be held liable. All entry fees and prizemoney are GST inclusive. PROTEST: Any protest must be made within 1 hour of the completion of the class in writing, signed by the person making the complaint and delivered to the Secretary accompanied by $200 cash (CHEQUES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED) which will be refunded should the protest be upheld. The Yellow Card system which operates in all RAS affiliated Shows will be used for any inappropriate behaviour towards Show officials, judges, fellow competitors or any third party connected with the Show bringing the Show into disrepute. Implementation of the Yellow Card will be in accordance of the RAS Rules. 4 Remember to enter the All Breeds classes at the back of the schedule. SCANNING: All scanning must be completed on-site between 10.30am and 12midday Saturday. Only officials are permitted in the scanning area. Exhibitors wishing to have sheep scanned, other than those entered in classes 2270, 2271, 2280, or 2281, can only do so after the scanning of these classes is completed and only with the express permission of the supervisor. The scanner reserves the right to charge a fee for the scanning of any sheep not entered in the above classes. Scanning results will be available after classes 2280 & 2281 have been judged. NO SMOKING: The National Smoking Laws will apply in ALL BUILDINGS. ALL SHEEP TO BE SHOWN IN NATURAL STATE. Ribbons and place cards will be awarded to all sheep that are placed and championship and reserve sashes will be awarded in each breed. Entries must have been the property of the exhibitor at least one month prior to the show. Name of Breeder must be stated on the entry form. EWE AND HER LAMB: Exhibitors are asked to note that both the ewe and her lamb will be judged in all ewe and lamb classes. In appropriate classes ewes must be suckling Lambs of their own. BRUCELLOSIS ACCREDITATION. All Rams entered must have current brucellosis accreditation certificates, a copy of which must accompany entries or they will not be processed. LEGAL LIABILITY/SUPERVISION & CONTROL OF ANIMALS: The Association's insurance policy does not cover Competitors or Exhibitors. Each exhibitor must supervise and control their animals at all times and shall be liable for any hazard created or accident, illness or damage caused by the action of themselves or their animals at the Showgrounds. Exhibitors must comply with the appropriate Animal Legislation and the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992. No person is permitted in any judging ring without express permission from the Head Steward of that ring. Only persons directly responsible for an Exhibit are permitted in the marshalling area. RULES FOR SHEEP PLEASE READ CAREFULLY The onus of responsibility for the accuracy of all entries lies solely with the exhibitor; who must ensure that each entry is eligible, that the animal or competitor is eligible and all details required for any class are fully and correctly stated on the entry form at the time entry is made. 1. All Sheep must be entered in the name of the bona fide owner and must be from registered flocks. Sheep must not be removed from their allocated pens without the express permission of the Chief Steward. Note: Neck Tags will be supplied on arrival to correspond with the entries exhibit number and must be returned to the Head Steward prior to leaving. Failure to do so will incur a fine of $10 per tag. 2. Definition of hogget: A sheep born after 1st July in any one year shall be considered a hogget up to and including 31st December in the following year. 5. All sheep in pedigree Wool Breeds shorn classes must be shorn on or after the 20th July unless otherwise stated. 6. All sheep in pedigree Meat Breeds shorn classes must have been shorn or re-shorn on or after 1st September, excepting where specified otherwise. 7. Championships will be awarded in each breed for the best ram and the best ewe unless in the Judge's opinion it is not worthy of a championship award. 8. A Sheep may be entered in one class only, with the exception of group classes and All Breed classes. Nominations for breed group classes to be made by 1pm Saturday and All Breed classes by 4pm Saturday with the respective steward. 9. No lice infested sheep will be eligible for exhibition. 10. Waikato A&P Association reserves the right to amalgamate classes where there are insufficient entries. 11. All sheep must be penned not later than 10am Saturday, 1st November 2014 and remain until 4.00 pm Sunday 2nd November 2014. Scanning must be done Saturday morning. 12. No sheep to be brought to the grounds before midday FRIDAY unless special arrangements are made with the Chief Steward. Exhibitors who bring their stock early will be penalised if they pen them in any pen not allotted to them. 13. No person will be allowed in the judging rings without the express permission of the Ring Steward. ANY EXHIBITOR WHO FAILS TO COMPLY WITH THE RULES MAY FORFEIT THEIR PRIZEMONEY. MISS WAIKATO EWE HOGGET COMPETITION This competition is open to all Competitors. Judging to commence at 1pm. Entry Fee: $15 Rules: 1. The competition is open to ewe hoggets, 18 months and under. 2. One entry per breed, per exhibitor. 3 Animal must be bred by the exhibitor. 4. Entries will not be eligible for any other class in the breed, interbreed or the Allbreeds sections. 5. All entries will be scanned on the day of the show between 10.30am and midday Saturday. Only Officials are permitted in the scanning area. 6. Judging to be performed by three judges. One meat breed judge, one wool breed judge and one sheep industry judge. The meat and wool sections will be judged separately. The overall winner will be selected from the winners of those two sections. 7. Every animal will be placed with a maximum of 50 points from each judge, plus the points from the scanning figures using the McCawley formula A,B,C. Scanning kindly undertaken by Melinda Wheeler. 8. Judging to take place on Saturday at 1pm. 9. Shearing: All meat breeds sheep in this competition to be shorn on/or after 1st September 2014.
