Focus on handling & on the ground
activities – grooming, leading,
catching, quick release knots & more.
And fun gymkhana riding games too!
Ensure you can handle a pony as well
as you can ride one. Your pony will
appreciate your new skills & will
respond with affection and respect.
And, it really shows on test days and
generally makes you a real all round
pony lover if you can manage a pony
from the ground.

The first of two chances this half term for
hack & snacktivity because it’s always
really popular – and you can do both!
A very steady morning ride & you can be
led if necessary. Mention to the office if
you require a leader when you book.
After the hack, we will have a quick drink
& snack in our cosy clubroom with a
brilliant fun activity to round things off.
A great chance to ride, learn new skills as
well as catching up with your Pony Club
pals and making new friends.

Silver level handling skills are the
stepping stone from D to D+. Learn
how to deal with ponies and how to
gain their respect and trust. Even when
they are perhaps a little more
challenging. This day is especially
useful for newer Helpers and Clubbers
working towards D+.

BEGINNER PLUS JUMP RALLY
This session is for Clubbers who work very
confidently on the flat in walk, trot &
canter and have either completed beginner
jumps during lessons or attended two
beginner jump rallies.
The session will be ridden, starting with
warm up on the flat, then progress to
polework & grid style jumping exercises.

BEGINNER JUMP RALLY
Fabulous Flatwork for riders working
accurately in walk & trot. Canter may
be included if you are capable in this
gait. Book up for Dressage Delights
with Amber following her successful
Winter dressage competition season
riding our wonderful Mount Mascal
Stables riding school equines,
Andrew & Magpie. Practice &
understand how to maximise your
chances of success in dressage and
get the Dressage Arena badge too if
you can remember the markers.

must wear correct riding attire. But you

A steady introduction to games on
horseback for the walk & trot rider.
You may be led, please mention this
when you book up. Your onesie must fit
well & fasten up.
A session for the ‘new to jumping’ Pony
Clubber. If you are working in walk &
trot confidently & independently in
your regular lessons, you are ready to
have-a-go! Start with the all-important
basics – position & phases. Learn
theory first. Progress to ridden practice
over poles on the ground to low level
cross pole jumps if you are ready.
This is the way ALL the top show
jumpers got started!

Bareback riding & vaulting are GREAT

learning from Nick’s cavalry training &
Kim’s time at a racing yard. Afterwards,

February is a fantastic time to learn
about birds. The Mount Mascal bird
feeding station – in the garden area
next to the square behind the house
– is guaranteed to be busy at this
time of year. And we will be checking
out the surrounding fields & Joydens
Wood areas for early pairing and
nesting activity. There’s a really good
chance for sighting our lovely native
British garden & woodland birds. But
lots of activities for indoor fun too.

the forge. And get to ask him questions

items & when you would use them.

Clubbers will learn to lunge and be
lunged on this badge.
To gain the badge the focus will be
on your ability to sit straight and in
balance while on the lunge. Work in
walk & trot, with/out reins & stirrups
but not both at once!!
Super session for Clubbers starting
out on their Pony Club test career.
Practice handling & riding skills and
make some new Pony Club pals.
Amber will conduct friendly and
informal testing along the way. You
are bound to learn lots, have fun &
