The EAAP Horse Commission,
It is a pleasure to announce the program of the *Horse Commission
for the next EAAP* conference which will be held in Crete (Heraklion) on
August 24th – 27th , 2010.
As you can see on the programs, there will be relevant topics both in the specific horse
sessions and joint sessions such as:
1. Horse Sessions
Equine milk for human health
A session that will be chaired by the Italian colleague Elisabetta Salimei and in which
special emphasis will be given both to the use of milk as health food and its use in
cosmetic. A focusing on the history of milking equids will be of considerable interest.
Three to four main papers are expected.
Horse Genetics with emphasis on behavior traits
This will be chaired by Martine Hausberger (F) and Bart Ducro (NL) and will concern a ‘hot
topic’ – that of nature verses nurture in behavior traits.
Horse ‘Free Communications’ session
This will be chaired by Elodie Pillet (F), recipient of the Young Researcher Award at the
last EAAP Conference in Barcelona, and Markku Saastamoinen (Fin). Papers concerning
horse reproduction, management health and nutrition are expected for this session.

A one day workshop will be held at the end of the conference on August 27th. Its theme will
be: The Role of Equids on Human Wellbeing. The Workshop will be managed by
