Radioplay Dance Express Edition #941 of 2011 Jul 29
House music DJ superstars Swedish House Mafia have released a new single entitled "Save The
World", featured in our Dance Express Spotlight this week. This week we feature the "Knife
Party Remix" as well as the "Alesso Remix". These remixes add to the already uplifting
progressive House track, making "Save The World" one of the summer's hottest dancefloor
anthems.
Swedish House Mafia, also known as Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Axwell, hail from
Sweden, and after years of DJing House music tracks throughout clubs in Europe, and
worldwide, these band members, who say they are like brothers, have reached record-breaking
success with delivering their own unique style of House music tracks, and fans and new listeners
alike are loving their irresistable sound and vibe. Their latest track, "Save The World", features
the lovely vocals of fellow Swede, John Martin of Miike Snow.
During a recent interview discussing how the trio met, Steve Angello said, "Seb and I met when
we were six or seven, and we got into all kinds of trouble together! Seb's dad had a record label
and we got into music and did all kinds of weird things, including lounge compilations." Steve
added, "We bumped into Axwell ten years ago now, and we just clicked. We all learned from
each other because we were young kids."
Together, Swedish House Mafia took over clubs around the world, and those vacationing in
Ibiza, Spain, had the pleasure of watching the trio of DJs in person. Steve said, "We all lived in
Ibiza and we got to hang out quite a bit. Now, we all have kids, so the hanging out time will be a
bit more structured!" Sebastian Ingrosso explains how the three bring different elements to the
House music sound, stating, "Steve has his underground beats, Axwell is more melodic, and I'm
somewhere in between."
Knife Party, the team who remixed "Save The World", is a new club project born of Rob Swire
and Gareth McGrillen, of the Australian Dance band, Pendulum. This remix offers a more
intense, beat-driven track to the existing emotional House sound.
