South Hills High School Dance Regulations South Hills High School students and their guests are expected to adhere to the following regulations. Failure to do so could result in removal from the dance with no refund for the cost of the event. South Hills’ students may face additional disciplinary consequences as outlined in the District Discipline Guidelines. All dance participants, SHHS students and their guests, must abide by these regulations: 1. Provide a photo I.D. upon entering the dance; guest to provide same I.D. used in the photocopy provided with their Dance Guest Pass Application 2. Be subject to search 3. Follow school rules 4. Respect and follow all directions given by chaperones and security personnel 5. Comply with the dress standards identified on the SHHS student’s Dance Clearance Form 6. Comply with Dance Floor Rules as outlined on the SHHS student’s Dance Clearance Form 7. Possess no tobacco 8. Possess no alcohol or be under the influence of alcohol 9. Possess no drugs or be under the influence of drugs 10. Exit supervised dance area with a chaperone if you wish to return to the dance; students leaving the supervised dance area without a chaperone may not return to the dance Note: Middle school students are not permitted to attend SHHS dances Dance Clear Prom 2014.doc Prom Information Prom will be held on Saturday, May 9, from 8:00pm to midnight at The Grove in Anaheim. Light snacks, such as pastries, assorted fruit as well as desserts and beverages, will be offered. All Prom attendees, including guests must bring a photo ID. Prom attendees, guests and their vehicles (including limos) are subject to search. South Hills students and their guests who are not in compliance with school rules are subject to removal from the dance and will not be eligible for a refund. Ticket Information: Tickets will go on sale Monday, April 6, dance clearance forms and guest passes are required at time of purchase. Students will obtain clearance from the Dean’s office and proceed to finalize their clearance in the ASB office. Cost per person is $75/90/100 beginning April 6, and increases each week as the dance date approaches. Prices will rise to $110 the week of May 4, students must be completely cleared to purchase tickets. Deadline for purchasing prom tickets Friday, May 1 at 3:30. Deadline for submitting Dance Clearance Forms for Prom is 3:30 p.m. on Wed, MAY 6 make sure all Saturday Schools earned are cleared by this date. SATURDAY SCHOOLS AVAILABLE BEFORE PROM ARE: 4/11, 4/18, 4/25, 5/2 KNOW WHAT YOU OWE!!! A list of scheduled Saturday Schools is posted @ the Dean's Office window every Thursday and Friday. Failure to clear Saturday Schools will make you ineligible to attend Prom. Prom Guest Pass Applications are available at www.southhillshigh.com. Completed applications and a copy of the guest’s school ID or driver’s license must be stapled to the South Hills High School student’s Dance Clearance Form at the time of purchase. Prom Dance Dress Standards: Gentlemen must wear slacks, dress shirt, and tie. A tie will be provided for those gentlemen not wearing one. A coat is suggested. Ladies wear dressy dresses. All clothing must be suited to a high school activity. See the dean if you have any questions. Ladies: • Strapless / spaghetti straps are allowed • Dress / skirts must be at least fingertip length • Slits no higher than fingertip length • No garters or other exposed ingerie/undergarments • No sheer / see-through dresses and no see-through sides or bare sides • No excessively low cut dresses or tops • No bare midriffs Gentlemen: • Jacket recommended • Collared dress shirt • Tie • Shirts must have sleeves • Dress pants or slacks, dress shoes; no jeans Dance Floor Rules: The following dance guidelines apply and will be enforced by both the SH staff and a private security company:1) No inappropriate or suggestive dancing will be allowed (i.e.: no freaking). 2) No bending over or squatting down to the floor. 3) All students must be upright at all times with both feet on the floor. 4) No straddling legs or wrapping legs around another person or object. 5) No lap dancing. 6) No dancing which could cause harm to oneself or others (Amended from nofreaking.com) Students who refuse to comply with these guidelines are subject to disciplinary action including being asked to leave the dance, loss of future dance attendance privileges, and suspension from school for defiance of authority.
