How to register for modules in the Department:
1. Students should first contact the relevant lecturer requesting permission to take a module.
2. If permission is granted, students should go to Mary or Sinéad in the French dept. office and ask to
be put in a class group.
3. Students taking modules in the French department go to Dr James Hanrahan's office during his
office hours to have their module registration form signed.
4. Students of Orléans, Paris 3, Bordeaux Montaigne and Lyon 2 should go to Dr James Hanrahan's
office during his office hours to have their learning agreement and any other Erasmus
documentation signed.
Modules open to full-year Erasmus and Visiting students:
Senior Freshman
FR2008 Oral and Written French (10 ECTS, MT and HT) 3 hours p.w.
Content: B1 level course on French grammar and expression, written and oral
Assessment: 8 continuous assessment exercises; 1 x oral exam; 2 x 3-hour end of year exams

Content: Review course of French literature: Du Bellay, Molière, Corneille, Flaubert, Sarraute
Assessment: 1 x term essay; 1 x 3-hour end of year exam

Content: Introduction to the history of ideas in France from the Renaissance to the 20th century
