Together, I hope that we can set goals for your academic and future professional life. My goal is that you will grow academically and assume responsibility for constructing your own education. My hope is that our relationship will be characterized by mutual respect and trust. Through the various types of courses required of you, we hope that Stockton is preparing you for a lifetime of learning. Ultimately, you are the person responsible for your course selections and completion of necessary requirements for graduation. You should plan to arrive on-time and prepared with questions and appropriate materials. taking responsibility for creating an overall plan that incorporates your educational and career goals. completing graduation requirements, asking questions about requirements or policies you do not understand. investigating extracurricular activities, internship, and study abroad activities which could enhance your educational experience. Requirements: To begin this process and to track your growth throughout your college experience, please start a portfolio. In the portfolio please place all the documents that you and I create surrounding your precepting sessions. You can begin the portfolio by: Asking yourself: “Who am I? What are my educational goals? Why and how did I select these educational goals?” Write a BRIEF paper no more than 2 pages double spaced answering these questions. Please bring this paper to your session. Be able to identify the program and cognate requirements for your choice of major; be able to describe the nature of the discipline of the major you’ve chosen. 8. Understand the importance of including experiences outside the classroom such as internships, study abroad, and service learning. 9. Be able to identify several career choices for your choice of major. 10. Be able to articulate several graduate school possibilities for your intended major, working towards a grade point average that is sufficient for entrance into those programs. 11.
