EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE
Coordinator, Documents Center, University of Michigan Library,
October 1989 to August 2009. (Senior Associate Librarian with promotion
to Librarian in July 1999. Retired August 31, 2009)
Accomplishments:
 Distributed Census data free via the Internet (June 1991),
Congressional directories and committee memberships (May
1993), and Congressional e-mail addresses (August 1994),
the first known person to do so.
 Created ULIBRARY Gopher, Government section, 1993-94.
Cited by Bruce Maxwell in Database (September 1995) as one of ten ten best
sources for government Internet information. Gopher discontinued in April
1997.
 Created the first internet version of ALA GODORT’s Handout
Exchange (http://www.lib.umich.edu/govdocs/godort.html) in 1994 and
GPO’s Administrative Notes (http://www.lib.umich.edu/govdocs/
adnotes.html) in 1995.
 Created and maintain Government Resources on the Web
(http://www.lib.umich.edu/govdocs/), one of the largest indexes for
government information on the internet. Launched April 1995.
Served as webmaster through 2008. Contributor, 2009+
 Represented the United States at the International Conference
on Government Information and Democracy, St. Petersburg,
Russia, May 2000. Coordinated reciprocal visits by Russian
librarians to Ann Arbor in August 2000 and June 2001.
 Served as ALA GODORT liaison to the Census Bureau on
DVD software and American Factfinder issues for 2000
Census.
 Chaired the library’s first Social Sciences Electronic Team
(1998-2000), establishing precedents for selecting commercial
web products.
 Represented United States government documents librarians at
the International Conference on Government Information and
Democracy in St. Petersburg, Russia at request of the State
Department, May 15, 2000
 Digitized item selection process in preparation for MARCIVE
records.

 Co-sponsored several Census conferences for the Ann Arbor
community.
 Co-sponsored a first-of-its-kind conference on the privatization of
government information in 1985.
I served as program chair on behalf of GODORT-Michigan, bringing
representatives from the Joint Committee on Printing, information industry,
Council of Professional Associations on Federal Statistics, and Detroit Public
Library to Toledo. The meeting pre-dated OMB Circular A-130 on government
privatization by three months.
