Miss Golden Isles
and
Miss Golden Isles’ Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant
(A Preliminary for the 2015 Miss Georgia and Miss Georgia’s Outstanding Teen
Pageant)
Dear Possible Contestant:
We are excited that you are considering on becoming a contestant in the 2015 Miss
Golden Isles and Miss Golden Isles’ Outstanding Teen Pageant, which will be held on
Saturday, November 15, 2014, 6:30 p.m. at the historic Ritz Theatre in downtown
Brunswick. This is a great way to earn some scholarship money and possibly go on to
compete for 2015 Miss Georgia or for 2015 Miss Georgia’s Outstanding Teen which will
be held June 13-20, 2015 in Columbus.
Because the Miss America rules do not permit the charging of entry fees for the Miss
contestants, only Teen Contestants are required to pay an entry fee of $150.00.
Only Miss Contestants are required to raise $100.00 for the Miss America’s
National Platform-the Children’s Miracle Network. In order for a Miss Contestant to
participate in the Miss Golden Isles Pageant this donation must be raised by the deadline
of Sunday, October 19. All monies raised are tax deductible and tax receipts are
available upon request. (See CMN information forms.)
All Contestants are required to write a Resume and choose a Platform. A platform may
be an organization that you would like to promote or an issue that you care about. Such
as: Autism, Cancer Research, Hospice, Boys and Girls Club, etc. Contestants are
required to write a Platform Essay expressing why you chose this particular platform and
how you would go about promoting it. Both the Resume and Platform Essay will be
given to the judges in advance to be used during your Private Interview. All Resumes
and Platform Essays must be turned in by Sunday, October 19. (See sample forms on
website www.missgoldenisles.org)
All Contestants are required to have a talent. (See Talent Request Form.)
If you already know what your talent selection is, please feel free to email me your form
missgoldenisles@yahoo.com It is best to turn in your Talent Request Form quickly
because no two contestants are allowed to have the same music, so the first one to
submit their talent request will be the one that will be permitted to perform the
selection in question. The date of your email, postmark date on your envelope or
delivery date to me will determine when the form was submitted. You may either
mail or bring your talent CD-R to me. (No CD-RWs-these will not work) All
contestants CD-R must be turned in by Sunday, October 19. Please be sure to have
two copies made, one for us and one for you to keep for practice. Please note: Talent
time is limited to a total of 90 seconds which is the same as the Miss Georgia
Pageant.
All Contestants are required to furnish a head and shoulders photo for the program book.
The photo may be black and white or color. The program book is printed in black and
white so color does not matter. Again this year, we will present a Photogenic Award at
the pageant for a Miss and a Teen Contestant. A $20.00 Photogenic Fee is required for
this competition. Email your Photogenic Award -Program Book Photo Form and Photo
to missgoldenisles@yahoo.com The $20.00 Photogenic Fee for participation in the
Photogenic Competition must be mailed to me. All these must be turned in by Sunday,
October 19. (See Photogenic Award-Program Book Photo Form.)
All Contestants will have a Princess representative at the pageant. Princesses will be in
a group production number and will also be presented with their contestant during the
evening wear competition of the pageant. The Miss Golden Isles Board will try to
provide each contestant with a Princess unless you want to select one of your own.
Princesses must be between the ages of 6-12 years old. Please complete that information
on your entry form if you want to choose your own Princess. Please print the Miss
Golden Isles Princess Program Entry Package off the www.missgoldenisles.org
website and pass on to the young lady of your choice. Deadline for Princess entries is
Sunday, October 19.
All Contestants will be mailed 5 tickets to sell at the cost of $20.00 each ticket to benefit
the Miss Golden Isles Scholarship Fund. Additional tickets will be given upon request.
The Ticket Form and money collected from the ticket sales (Checks or Money Orders)
Must be mailed or delivered to me by Friday, November 7, 2014. (See ticket information
to follow.
All Contestants will have the opportunity to compete for the Miss Golden Isles
People’s Choice Award or the Miss Golden Isle’s Outstanding Teen People’s Choice
Award. Contestants family and friends will be able to support the contestant by casting
their vote(s) for them. (See People’s Choice information to follow.)
In order to participate in a Miss Georgia Preliminary Pageant, all contestants are
required to sign a contract. A contract will be mailed to you once your entry form, and
entry fee (if applicable) is returned. This contract must be notarized and mailed back to
me by the deadline of Friday, November 7.
All Contestants are required to attend the Dress Rehearsal which will be held on
Friday, November 14 from 6:00 p.m. until done at the historic Ritz Theatre, 1530
Newcastle Street, Brunswick, GA 31520.
Interviews for all contestants will be held on Saturday, November 15. Interviews will
most likely begin around 9:45 a.m. for the Miss Contestants (depending on the number of
the contestants) and 12:45 p.m. for the Teen Contestants. (A complete schedule will be
sent to you after registration.)
If you and your family are interested in staying in Brunswick during the pageant weekend, please let me know. The host hotel will be offering a special rate for the Miss
Golden Isles Pageant contestants and guest.
To participate in the 2015 Miss Golden Isles and Miss Golden Isles’ Outstanding

Miss Golden Isles and Miss Golden Isles’ Outstanding Teen
Resume and Platform
Resume
This is the most important thing that you will prepare for the pageant. This sheet is an outline for
the judges to use during your interview. Use this tool to guide you to your best interview. This is
your opportunity to demonstrate to the judges why you should be considered for Miss Georgia
or Miss Georgia’s Outstanding Teen.
Resumes must be turned in on or by Sunday, October 19, 2014.
Platform and Platform Essay
All local and state contestants must choose a Platform. A Platform is something that you are
interested in and have a passion for. This is your opportunity to explain to the judges what your
platform is and why it is important for the Miss Georgia Organization to embrace this platform
and how your platform will further the Miss Georgia Organization “brand” to the public. One
example could be Cancer Awareness. How would you go about letting others know how to be
aware of cancer?
During their reign, Miss Golden Isles and Miss Golden Isles’ Outstanding Teen, will be involved
in promoting their platforms. There are numerous ways this can be done. Writing newspaper
articles, speaking on the radio, speaking at clubs, civic organizations, churches, and schools are
just a few ways of informing your community on your Platform.
The Platform Essay must be turned in along with the Resume on or by Sunday,
October 19, 2014. We will be mailing the judges a copy of your Resume and Platform Essay. If
you do not turn them in by the deadline, they will not be mailed or given to the judges at a
later time. Absolutely no exceptions!
Please Note: Contestants
