The Osher Reentry Scholarship Program, funded by The Bernard Osher Foundation, provides financial assistance to eligible UO
students in completing their first undergraduate degrees. The Foundation recognizes the commitment, efforts and financial
hardships of reentry students who have experienced a gap in the pursuit of their education and who can look forward to a
significant number of years of workforce participation after graduation.
Application deadline is Friday, March 6, 2015. Each scholarship will consist of a tuition grant between $1,400 and $2,000 to be
disbursed in three equal parts, one part each term, over the 2015-16 academic year.1
An Osher Reentry Scholarship applicant must meet all of the following eligibility criteria:
 Must have completed at least 12 credits in advance of fall term 2015.
 Must have ‘stopped out’ in pursuit of first bachelor’s degree for a cumulative total of 5 or more years.
 Must be working toward a first bachelor’s degree.
 Must demonstrate financial need.1
 Must demonstrate the potential to succeed in his or her course of study.
 Must remain in good academic standing throughout the 2015-16 year.
In addition to the application form, please submit:
 500-700 word essay discussing how the Osher Reentry Scholarship could impact your ability to be enrolled at the
University of Oregon in pursuit of your academic goals.
*All university officials are required to report incidents of child abuse and prohibited discrimination and harassment,
including sexual harassment/assault. If you have questions or concerns, please contact gjewett@uoregon.edu.
 One to two paragraphs discussing your goals for after graduation.
 One or two Letters of Recommendation (see attached form). These may come from an instructor, mentor, advisor,
employer or supervisor.
 Transcripts (official or unofficial) from every community college and university you have attended.

professional, and colleague, including leadership roles, community service, family responsibilities, achievements, and any other
experiences with which you are familiar that illustrate the student’s background and potential. Please explain your relationship to
the applicant and how long you have known him or her.
