Why attend Antenatal Classes?
Antenatal classes are a useful way for you and your support partner to
understand what to expect during labour and birth and how to look after
your new baby. The classes are informal, friendly and usually fun and you
can ask questions about anything that interests you. These classes are also
an excellent way for you to be able to get to know other new parents in your
area. All pregnant women in Tower Hamlets are very welcome. The classes
are designed to be attended anytime from 24 weeks onwards, but they need
to be booked in advance. All courses contain the same content and are run
by the same team of midwives. The classes are held at different venues to
be as convenient as possible for you.
Topics that will be included in the classes:
Labour, different births and how partners help, natural and medical pain
relief options for labour and birth, how to breastfeed and care for your new
baby and caring for yourself during pregnancy and after.
Timing
We run daytime and evening two hour sessions which run for 4 weeks and
some weekend one-day sessions that run from 10:00am until 4pm. Please
send in your referral as early as possible to allow our team to offer a class
that is suitable for you. All classes need to be booked in advance
How to Book Classes:
Please complete the form opposite, tear it off and return to your midwife as
soon as possible as the sessions become booked very quickly. Or, you can
send, fax or email the completed form to us.
