Due to a domestic violence situation, EH needed to find a new place to live. Even though she worked full time plus additional overtime hours, she was still unable to afford rent or a security deposit. After successfully applying for a housing voucher, we worked collaboratively with the Domestic Violence Center to provide financial assistance for the security deposit so that she was able to move into safe shelter where her abuser could not find her.” (Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center) Impact of Funding on Agencies: “Through this UWCM grant, Bridges is able to take eight homeless families temporarily out of the Howard County homeless system and move them toward permanent housing. Bridges' Transitional Housing is an important component in Howard County's Continuum of Care.” (Bridges to Housing Stability) “As the only shelter program for victims of domestic violence in Howard County, the Residential Program at the DVC serves the community as a safe haven for victims. UWCM funding assists in providing residential services to domestic violence victims in Howard County by filling in gaps in funding for personnel.” (Domestic Violence Center of Howard County)
