January Newsletter 2008
http://kofc3738.org
Dear Brother Knights and Families,
I want to thank all of you that have been involved in our Keep Christ in Christmas program to recognize
area families who display the Magi. The message below says it all. God Bless.
In a time when all things religious are being discouraged and swept away, it’s refreshing to know
that the Order established the “Keep Christ in Christmas” campaign and the “Light Up for Christ”
program to remind people that Christmas is above all a holy day celebrating the birth of Christ.
I would encourage all members to talk to your Catholic friends and families to start the recruiting year off
right. It is in all our love to give and be charitable as Knights and recruit new members. I also would like
to share these thoughts from Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson…
Time and again, I have stressed that we have nothing less than a moral obligation to offer
membership in the Knights of Columbus to every eligible Catholic man. To accomplish this, I am
asking dedicated brother Knights like you to be ambassadors, to reach out to Catholic men and
their families and invite them to become part of our Order.
Carl A. Anderson
I went to Bingo on Sunday December 19th and had a lot of fun volunteering and helping do my duty as a
Knight of Columbus of Council 3738. Please give it all you can to take the time to volunteer for Bingo
once a month, every six weeks or even twice a year. But please just do it.
Super Bowl Sunday is coming and the menu will be wonderfully presented on February 3rd. Please join
us for fun and friendship. Invite your family and friends to join us for the festivities. Cost is $35 per
person and that includes four hours of open bar, canapés and an all you can eat dinner! See you there.
Sincerely,
Mark S. Rough

Your Support is Needed! For those of you who are unaware, months ago one of our
Brother Knights, Wayne Mitchell, suffered a devastating stroke. While the doctor’s initial
prognosis was bleak, through the grace of God Wayne was able to pull through and is
recuperating. However, Wayne is now unemployed and may never be able to work again. It
is now our turn, in the virtue of Charity to come to Wayne’s aid. A Relief Committee has
been established to assist the Mitchell family with medical bills not covered by insurance.
Wayne has worked with the Illinois State Council for many years and has touched the lives
of many Brother Knights. We are asking individual Brother Knights for their personal
support in both time & money. Any contribution, no matter how small, is vital to our effort!
Look within your heart and think “There but for the grace of God go I”

Chaplain Message
Dear Knights,
Beautiful thoughts for the Christmas season…
“I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below with tiny
lights like heaven’s stars reflecting on the snow.
The sight is so spectacular please wipe away that tear, for I am spending
Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear but the
sounds of music can’t compare with the Christmas choir up here.
I have no words to tell you of the joy their voices bring for it is beyond
description to hear the angels sing.
I know how much you miss me, I see the pain inside your heart for I am
spending Christmas with Jesus this year.
I can’t tell you of the splendor or the peace here in this place. Can you
just imagine Christmas with our Savior face to face?
I’ll ask Him to lift your spirit as I tell you of your love so then pray for
one
another as you lift your eyes above.
Please let your hearts be joyful and let your spirit sing for I am spending
Christmas in heaven and I’m walking with the King.”
May all of you have a very happy Christmas Season and holy New Year.
Let us pray together that this coming year of 2008 will be filled with
blessings for us and those who have gone before us. May all have an
abiding presence of the Lord on Earth and in Heaven.
Father Noesen
